Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hile-Best Funeral Home on Feb. 14, 2026.
Eunice Elizabeth (Jalosky) Gricks, 82, of Oakwood Heights Village in Oil City, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. She was born in
Bentleyville, Pennsylvania, on April 21, 1943, to the late Rev. Andrew L. and Olive D. (Brown) Jalosky.
Throughout her youth, Eunice lived in Bentleyville, Titusville, Seneca, and Oil City, forming the roots of a loving and close knit family. She graduated from Cranberry High School, Class of 1961. After marriage, her life's path led her to Dover, Delaware, and later to Huntington Beach and Westminster, California, before returning to Pennsylvania.
She married Ronald E. Gricks on April 4, 1964, who preceded her in death on May 3, 1996. Together they raised three sons: Timothy Gricks of Cheney, Washington; Wesley (Stacey) Gricks of Lewisberry, PA; and Paul (Heather) Gricks of Oil City. Eunice deeply loved her family, and nothing brought her more joy than her children and grandchildren.
She was the proud grandmother of Weston (Hannah) Gricks of Mechanicsburg, PA; Hannah Gricks of Emerald Isle, NC; Ava Gricks of Lewisberry, PA; and Bryce and Carson Gricks, both of Oil City.
Eunice was one of ten siblings and cherished each relationship dearly. She is survived by: David (Dawn) Jalosky of Altoona; Miriam (Kenneth) Sherene of Oil City; Rebekah Warring of Meadville; A. Thomas (Penny) Jalosky of Surfside Beach, SC; Rachel (David) Ossoff of Oil City; Lois (Ralph) Pleczkowski of Valencia; Dorcas (Kenneth) Meddock of Seneca; Joanna (Wayne) Wedburg of Busti, NY; and Susanna (Merle) Giesey of Seneca.
She was also preceded in death by Rita Wurster, who was a special "Aunt" whom Eunice helped care for, and by brothers in law David L. Anderson, Robert Warring, and James E. "Jim" Casey.
Eunice was a beloved aunt to more than 60 nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, each of whom held a treasured place in her life.
Faith was central to everything Eunice did. She attended the Oil City First Free Methodist Church, where she served faithfully over the years. She helped with bereavement dinners, directed the choir, and sang special music-both solo and alongside her parents and siblings. Eunice encouraged those around her to trust the Lord in all circumstances, and she modeled a life grounded in prayer, service, and genuine compassion.
Eunice considered herself a "people person" from an early age, often visiting elderly neighbors simply to brighten their day. That natural warmth and empathy led to her career as a self employed, private duty caregiver and home health aide. In 1989, she joined Oakwood Heights Village as a nursing assistant, where she continued caring for residents with patience and kindness until her retirement in 2009.
When Eunice eventually made her home at Oakwood Heights in 2023, she joked that she ought to write a book titled "From an Aide to a Resident"-a reflection of her humor and her ability to find joy in every chapter of life.
Her favorite hobby was conversation-meaningful talks with family, friends, or new acquaintances about Jesus, life, or whatever was happening in the world. In earlier years, she also enjoyed camping and traveling, creating memories now cherished by her family.
Eunice's life was marked by love, faith, and an unwavering desire to encourage others. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of service, kindness, and steadfast trust in God.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday (Feb. 17) from 10 a.m. until Noon at the First Presbyterian Church, 215 E. Bissell Ave. in Oil City.
