Kyle George Gricks, age 30, passed away of natural causes on Saturday, June 28th, 2025, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Born on October 26th, 1994, in Pittsburgh, Kyle was baptized a few months later at St. John the Evangelist Church in Stoke-on-Trent, England, the same church where his mother, Helen, was baptized in 1962 and his grandparents were married in 1956. These deep family roots were a meaningful part of Kyle's life story.
A 2013 graduate of North Hills High School, Kyle went on to attend The Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2017. At Penn State, he served as president of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, reflecting his intelligence, leadership, and commitment to excellence.
Following graduation, Kyle joined Pittsburgh-based robotics company Seegrid as a test engineer. His talents and work ethic earned him multiple promotions, most recently to Senior Manager of Field Engineering.
Kyle was a proud member of both the Freemasons and the Shriners. He shared a particularly close bond with his brother, Torey, with whom he bought a home in Carnegie in 2019. He also maintained deep and lasting friendships, especially with his high school Science Bowl teammates, Matt Esch, Tyler Jenkins, and Jesse Ritter, who remained by his side throughout his life.
Kyle was known for his quick wit, generous spirit, and deep love of storytelling. He was an avid board game enthusiast and a passionate Dungeons & Dragons player, often serving as Dungeon Master for campaigns with friends. Through gaming, he built community, created joy, and brought people together with imagination and laughter.
He is survived by his loving parents, Tim and Helen Gricks; his brother, Torey Gricks; and his grandparents, George and Jean Vardy. He also leaves behind a devoted circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Kyle was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12th, 2025, at 10:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh, 320 Sixth Avenue. A lunch reception will follow in the church's fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to be made in Kyle's memory to a STEM education program or an animal rescue group of your choice, as these causes reflect Kyle's passion, intellect, and heart.
