Hal Williamson Obituary
Hal Gragg Williamson died peacefully, January 22, 2026, while in hospice in Casper, Wyo. He was 90. He was born October 13, 1935, in Kansas City, Mo., to Roy Preston and Frances (Gragg) Williamson.
Hal graduated high school in Salina, Kan., and graduated from the University of Kansas with accounting, marketing and economics majors and served in the US Air Force, Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, Calif., where he reached the rank of lieutenant. He then worked for accounting firm Arthur Anderson followed by a long career with Sears, Roebuck and Company.
In 1957, Hal married Barbara Jane Teas of Salina, Kan., and had two boys, Russell Alan and Richard Phillip. The family lived in many locations as he continued his career with Sears including California, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and finally Wyoming, where he retired from Sears in 1987 after 31 years, 20 years as store manager. Barbara died in 1973, shortly after the family moved to Casper, Wyo.
In 1974, Hal married Donna Jean Mills in Casper, Wyo. Donna had two boys from a previous marriage, Todd Allen and Troy A., whom he later adopted.
Hal enjoyed an active retirement spanning nearly 40 years. He and Donna roamed the country by motorhome, traveled to Spain, enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, boating and spending time at the family cabin at Alcova Reservoir in Wyoming. They established a second home in Casa Grande, Ariz., and were faithful snowbirds for many years while making numerous new friends there.
Hal was involved in many organizations: member of the Masonic Lodge 42; member of the Scottish Rite; member of the Casper Shrine Club and was the Korein Shrine Temple Potentate in 2001; past president and member of the Korein Temple Oriental Band; past treasurer and member of the board of directors of the Casper Amateur Hockey Club; past president and member of the board of directors of the Casper Amateur Parents Hockey Club; past president and member of the board of directors of the Casper Downtown Merchants Association; member of the board of directors of Eastridge Mall Association in Casper; two-time president and member of the board of directors of the Wyoming Retail Merchants Association; member of the board of directors of the Wyoming Council for Economic Development; St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Casper; elected Boss of the Year by the Casper Chapter of the American Business Women's Association.
Hal was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Frances Williamson and his sister, Jerry Lee DeWitt.
Hal is survived by his wife, Donna Williamson; sons, Russell Williamson (Ann), Todd Williamson, Richard Williamson (Joan), Troy Williamson (Kate); grandchildren, Austin Williamson (Heather), Nick Williamson, Bridger Williamson, Jeff Vanderlinde (Val), Mark Vanderlinde (Briana); and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
