Stacy Childs Obituary

Stacy Louise Childs passed away Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021. She was born Nov. 17, 1964, in Pittsburgh. Stacy was native to the East Hills section of the city, but her energy touched almost every neighborhood in the region. Ms. Childs attended Pittsburgh public schools graduating from Schenley High School. She went on to further her education and graduated with a bachelors of arts in psychology from Carlow University with a certificate in drug and alcohol. Stacy was an outreach worker for Healthy Start, helping at-risk women, and worked at Bethlehem Haven, a homeless woman's shelter. She worked briefly with the honorable Kevin Cooper at his Homewood Magistrate Office. Almost every position she took in her life was dedicated in the service and well being of others even if she herself was suffering. To know Stacy was to love her. She would literally give you the coat off her back if it would make your day easier. Stacy loved life kept it moving and rolled with the punches. She was an avid reader and a very spiritual woman whom often quoted the Bible and always said "to thine ownself be true." Stacy was a single black mother, a soldier and a provider to her children; coupled with a soul of unconditional love, support and understanding. Her presence will be greatly missed. Ms. Childs was preceded in death by her parents, Beverly Jean Childs and Robert Rose Sr.; two sisters, Jamie Lee Childs and Kelly Rose; and one aunt, Ann Kendricks. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, three children, Dane Childs(Tonya), Di'Andre Childs and Edesha Terry; three grandchildren, Tationa, A'Niylah and A'nia Childs; one sister, Armenia Childs-Cobb; two brothers, Robert Rose Jr., and Todd Rose; four aunts, Eleanor Thomas, Louise Johnson, Marlene Childs and Dorothy Browne; two uncles, James and Robert Childs; a host of nieces and nephews, Latisha Humphries, Robert Dorsett-Childs, Rozlin Sanders, Angela Childs, Lamiere Thompson and Calin Anderson; several cousins, John Kendricks, Brittany Morrison, Shanette Mellix, and Veronica and Dejanee Mellix; two close friends, Ms. Shelly and Ms. Nanda; and a plethora of associates and friends. Our queen was missing for years and now she is finally resting peacefully. Thank you for the prayers, calls, etc.
