Rebecca Ann Frazier McGrew, 88, of Fairfield, Ala., departed this life peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, in Princeton Hospital, Birmingham, Ala. She was born Oct. 1, 1927, in McKeesport, daughter of the late William Gressem and Isabell Frazier. She was also preceded in death by adopted mother, Eva Gressem; godmother, Beatrice Brown; sons, Burrell Brown and Earl Alford Sr.; and grandson, Damon Alford. She was a member of Gethsemane Church of God in Christ, while she resided in Clairton. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Wilford Martin McGrew, of Fairfield, Ala.; daughters, Enola Duncan, of Marietta, Ga., and Leatrice McGrew, of Lithonia, Ga.; godchildren, Marcis Gressem, of Washington, D.C., Ronald George, of Clairton, and Toni Richardson, of Virginia; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers, William Gressem, of Pittsburgh, Walter (Gloria) Gressem and John (Renee) Gressem, both of Elizabeth Township, and Michael (Sharon) Gressem, of Clairton; sisters, Inez (Elbie) Williams, of Capitol Heights, Md., and Barbara (Fred) Arnold, of Clairton; daughter-in-law, Anita D. Brown, of Clairton; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at Gethsemane Church of God in Christ, 200 Crest St., Clairton, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, with Elder Melvin Brown officiating. Pastor Marcus Gressem will do the eulogy. Interment will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth. Local arrangements entrusted to the ROBERT A. WATERS FUNERAL HOME INC., Clairton.
