Bernice Giunta Obituary

Bernice A. Giunta, 47, of Greensburg, "I fell asleep in Jesus' arms and the angels carried me home," on Monday, Jan. 10, 2005. She was born March 3, 1957, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of Theodore B. Sr. and Frances E. (Bowman) Barko, of Greensburg RD6. Bernice had been employed as a service representative for PNC Bank for 24 years. She was a member of the Bible Fellowship of Irwin, where she had been an organist and Sunday school teacher. She had also been a Sunday school teacher at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Forbes Road. Bernice held a black belt from the LMA Martial Arts Academy of Pittsburgh. She had been a counselor at Son Rise Mountain Camp. She was a certified diver and enjoyed taking many cruises, cooking and entertaining for family and friends. Her hobbies included home canning, deer hunting, swimming and helping others when there was a special need. Bernice always said, "I lived my life as a blessing from the Lord each day." In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Anthony C. Giunta; a stepson, Nathan Giunta, of Harrisburg; a sister, Cheryl Peoples and her husband, Harry, of Greensburg; two brothers, Theodore B. Barko Jr. and his wife, Lori, of Connellsville, and Timothy P. Barko, of Irwin; nieces and nephews, Tiffany Peoples, Stacy Peoples, Tanner Robert Barko, Theodore B. Barko III, Matthew Giunta and Elizabeth Giunta; and her faithful pet, "Sassy." Friends will be recieved at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Tuesday and Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A celebration of Bernice's life will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in The Bible Fellowship, 250 Brushcreek/Manor Road, Irwin, with Pastor Robert H. Williams officiating. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Westmoreland County, P.O. Box 1552, Greensburg, PA 15601.
