Dorothy Graves Obituary

Dorothy Jane Crooks Steiner Graves, 91, of Albion, formerly of Greensburg, took the hand of Jesus Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021, and is happily settled in her mansion! "This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalms 118:24) was Dorothy's favorite verse, and surely, she is rejoicing now. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her presence in heaven is cause to rejoice. Dorothy was born July 20, 1930, in Smicksburg, to Jesse Merle and Edith Erma Eakman Crooks, who preceded her in death, along with her brother, James Simon Monroe Crooks (and wife, Dolly); and sister, Hazel Leone Crooks Cornman (and husband, Eugene). She is survived by her sister, Joan (Clifford) Griffith, of Smicksburg. She was married on Sept. 11, 1948, to Clifford Allen Steiner, of Greensburg, who preceded her in death in 1985. She is survived by two daughters, Marge Burke, of Greensburg, and Kathleen (Paul) Eisaman, also of Greensburg. After Clifford's death, she married John R. Graves Sr., who passed away on June 4, 2021. Dorothy is survived by two stepsons, John R. (Bobbie) Graves Jr., of Albion; James A. (S.J.) Graves, of Taylor, S.C.; and three stepdaughters, Judy A Hornstrom, of Erie, Barbara L. (Kent) Barron, of Lake City, and Dorothy J. (Steve) Szymczak, of Barboursville, Va. Also surviving are a combined 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was most recently a member of Keepville Bible Church, Albion. She was well-known throughout the community for her kind, sweet spirit and her devotion to her family and friends. She was committed to living for the Lord and shared His love in some way every day. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m., the hour of Dorothy's funeral service, Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021, at KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 North Main St., Greensburg, PA 15601. A livestream of the service will be available by going to Dorothy's obituary page on the funeral home website. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Mission School, 1760 Edgewater Drive, Grundy, VA 24614. For online condolences, please visit www.kepplegraft.com.line

Warmest thoughts and prayers for a dedicated and loving family who honored their faith-filled mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend in life and rejoice in the legacies she's left behind. Even in this tender period of sadness and adjustment, be glad that she 'happened' in your lives...and be grateful.
