Joseph Martin Krinock, 70, passed away peacefully Monday, July 23, 2018, in his home in Hillside after a long, courageous battle with cancer, with his wife and daughter by his side. Born Sept. 21, 1947, in Bradenville, he was a son of the late Nicholas Krinock and Nellie (Pawlosky) Krinock. Joe was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Bradenville. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed at Allegheny Ludlum. A graduate of Derry Area High School, class of 1965, he continued his studies and attended Rutgers University to play football. Coaching and mentoring the next generation was Joe's passion. He is fondly referred to as "Coach" by his adoring players, whose lives he has touched over the past five decades. At various points in his life, he had been a member of coaching staffs for Derry Area Midget Football, Derry JV Baseball, Derry High School Football and most notably Latrobe-Derry Teener League and Old Timers Baseball. He held every position at Teener League, from one of the first players, through coach, manager, umpire, president and commissioner. He also served as president of St. Anthony's Society for multiple years and was a previous member of the Derry Area School Board. Joe is survived by "his girls," his wife, Carole Rojevcan Krinock, of Hillside, whom he married April 29, 1983, and his daughter, Anne Krinock Crowell, of Centreville, Va., along with his son-in-law, Samuel Crowell, and beloved grandsons, Jackson and Cooper Crowell, of Centreville, Va.; two brothers, Nicholas Richard Krinock and his wife, Barbara, of Bradenville, and Daniel Krinock and his wife, Kate, of Greensburg; three sisters, Barbara Boggio and her husband, Joe, of Bradenville, Mary Chemski and her husband, Darryl, of Derry, and Elizabeth Krinock, of Peanut. He is also survived by many dearly loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses of Excela Health Home Care and Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Parastas service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Joe was a Derry and Rutgers teammate of mine and I never knew any one who didn't love him. You knew you could trust hiim with anything and could always count on his help. I was so proud that he chose to come to Rutgers. We were also Phi Gamma Delta fraternity brothers and even though we were 2 years apart , we shared much. Joe loved his family so much. Getting Joe into my 1961 VW with luggage for the 6 hour drive was always quite a chore ! Joe, you will be missed. May God continue to bless your family richly. Lou Tepper (Derry class of 1963)
