Josephine Rosenthal Obituary

Josephine Jean Rosenthal, 88, of Greensburg, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011, in Greensburg. She was born Nov. 22, 1922, in Pittsburgh, and was the daughter of the late Samuel and Regina Sussman. Jean attended Mt. de Chantal Visitation Academy, in West Virginia, and then graduated from Fassifern School for Girls in Hendersonville, N.C. In 1948, she married Justin Philip Rosenthal in Miami, Fla., and they honeymooned in Cuba. She and Justin then returned to Pittsburgh to start their life together. She was preceded in death, besides her parents, by her husband, Justin Philip Rosenthal; and her brother, David Sussman. Jean loved her son, Gary, and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Rosenthal, who took wonderful care of her. She also adored her grandchildren, Justin and Courtney Rosenthal; and the family's yellow Lab, Hudson. Jean could be seen walking her dogs in Lago de Vita, where she lived for many years. She treasured her neighbor and dear friend, Mary Spice. She loved donating to her many causes, which mainly were animal rescues, and she spent many hours knitting lap blankets for the veterans of war. Honoring Jean's request, there will be no public visitation and the services for Jean will be held privately. Private interment will be in Beth Shalom Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to an animal rescue of your choice. KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., of Greensburg, entrusted with the arrangements (724-837-1201).
