Karen Lee "Gran" (Frichtel) Droske, 62, of Latrobe, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011, surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was born Sept. 17, 1948, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Robert R. and Mary B. (Shrum) Frichtel. A 1966 graduate of Latrobe High School, she was a past owner of Droske's Market, in Lloydsville. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Frichtel; sister, Betty McCracken; and first husband, William G. Jones. Surviving are her devoted husband, Stephen J. Droske; children, Dawn M. Vavick and husband, Michael, Jaydee Jones and wife, Kristen, all of Latrobe, and Jason W. Jones and wife, Kelly, of Pittsburgh; sisters, Robin L. Kelly and husband, William, of Blairsville, and Deborah J. Bell and husband, Thomas, of Latrobe; sisters-in-law, Shirley Boring and husband, Raymond, of Blairsville, and Edwinna Peduzzi and husband, Samuel, of Greensburg; as well as several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her grandchildren. They all held a special place in her heart. She never missed a sporting event, school function or special occasion. They all adored her and knew they were "her favorite". They loved her, "all their hearts". They are Ashley A. Villa and husband, Casey, Katelyn E. Bell, Hannah K. Jones, Benjamin S. Vavick, Ethan T. Jones, Addyson Vavick, Chase E. Jones, all of Latrobe, and Quinlan J. Jones, of Pittsburgh. The family would like to thank her hospice nurses for their exceptional care and kindness. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A blessing service will be held at 8 p.m. in the funeral home, with the Very Rev. Daniel C. Mahoney, VF, officiating.
