Michael Orson

Michael Orson, of Monroeville, a resident of Beatty Pointe, 90, died peacefully Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021. Mike was the beloved husband of both the late Katherine (Pappas) for 25 years until her death in 1981, and also Geraldine "Gerry" (Buckley) for 33 years until her death in 2016. He was the loving father of William (Jackie) Orson and Michelle (Duane) Koller, all of Meadville; stepfather of Susan (Les) Scheible, of Murrysville, and Thomas Gable and the late Donald Gable; treasured grandfather of Jennifer (Greg) Strine, Rachel (Mike) Witherow, Katherine "Kaylee" Koller (husband, Colin Getter) and Elizabeth "Elle" Koller; step-grandfather of Chelsea (Nick) Hassler and Kayla Waltman; Jason (Kim) Scheible, Crystal (Jon) Patton, Justin Sheible, Natalie, Christopher, Natasha and Cody Gable. Mike was the great-grandfather of 12 and uncle to many. Mike was the brother of Eugenia "Jeannie" (George) Papadopoulos and the late Dorothy (late Mike) Megaludis. Mike was born and raised in East Pittsburgh, where he joined the Boy Scouts and earned the achievement of being an Eagle Scout. After graduation from East Pittsburgh High School in 1948, Mike joined the Navy Reserves. Mike spent his work career in food service management and was employed with various companies at a multitude of venues. His last site was Titusville Hospital, from where he retired. Mike's favorite pastime was golf, not only playing golf, but working as a starter at the Manor Valley Golf Course in Penn Township. He was a lifelong member and volunteer of the Presentation of Christ Greek Orthodox Church "Ypapanti" where he was baptized 90 years ago. Mike also was a member of YASOU and the Norwin Elks. Mike will be remembered for many things, but mostly for his love of his family and his faith. Friends are welcome to his funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Presentation of Christ Greek Orthodox Church "Ypapanti", 1672 Electric Ave., East Pittsburgh, PA 15112. There will be a viewing in church one hour prior to the service. Mike will be laid to rest with both Katherine and Gerry in William Penn Cemetery in Churchill. Mike's funeral service will be livestreamed on the Church's Facebook page. Arrangements are with PATRICK T.
