Peter Meisner Obituary

Peter Paul Meisner, 80, of New Kensington, passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, surrounded by his family at home. Pete was born in New Kensington May 11, 1942, to the late Frank P. Meisner and Charlotte H. Kalinski Meisner Chini. He lived in the area all of his life, along with his loving wife of 63 years, Arlene Meisner, whom he met in the third grade. Pete was also an assiduous blue-collar worker that didn't know the meaning of the word "can't", mastered multiple trades and built his business, Meisner's Landscaping & Tree Service, from the ground up. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed spending time at his camp, hunting and fishing with his son and was a former sheriff for Bobby's Run Hunting Club, Emporium. In 1970, he landed (at the time) the Pennsylvania state record musky. Pete was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, New Kensington. Pete will be greatly missed by everyone whose life that he touched and impacted. Pete loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Arlene Moses Meisner; five children, of whom he was extremely proud, Gregory P. (Mary Jean) Meisner, of Greensburg, Debra (Robert) Hoffman, of Gibsonia, Cheryl (Tom) Sellari, of Canton, Ohio, Paula (Vaughn) Sikorski, of Natrona Heights, and Melissa (Paul) Frame, of New Kensington; 11 grandchildren, whom he loved with all his heart, Dr. Gregory P. Meisner II, Shane Meisner, Melinda (Brian) Butler, Nickolas Sellari, Shannon Sellari, Brandon Sellari, Kevin Frame, Jordan Frame, his angel and inspiration, Macy Frame, Jackie (Scott) Brill and Michael Hoffman; great granddaughter, Clara Butler; brother, Frank (Adrianne) Meisner, of DuBois; sister, Mercedes (William) Campbell, of Lower Burrell; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte Tomayko. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at THE RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder Street. Trisagion Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. A parting Trisagion Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home followed by an Orthodox funeral service at 10 a.m. in St. George Orthodox Church. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. www.RusiewiczFH.com. Pete adored his granddaughter, Macy, who has Angelman Syndrome, and in lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made in his name to the Angelman Syndrome Foundation to help find a cure to help others like her. www.angelman.org.

Dear Mrs. Meisner, Greg, Debbie, Cheryl, Paula & Melissa,

I am so heartbroken for each of you and so very sorry for your loss. It seems like yesterday when I was at your home, eating and laughing so hard I started to cry. When I first met Mr. Meisner, he is such a large man that I was so intimidated. Debbie introduced me and I remember the huge smile on his face and the first thing he said to me is "Are you hungry?". Mr. and Mrs. Meisner made me feel so welcome and honestly, their home became my second home. I loved going to their home. Mrs. Meisner was always cooking something amazing, and Mr. Meisner was so funny that I was always laughing. When I would get ready to leave, he would always say "Be careful, make sure you don´t talk to any strangers", and then give me one of his bear hugs. Everything about this home I loved. There were always so many people coming and going, all for Mrs. Meisner´s delicious cooking. I´ll never forget this one day when I walked in, Mr. Meisner was grilling these huge steaks and Mrs. Meisner was cooking so much food that I knew something was going on. Well, there he was Greg, the Pitt football star and literally half the team. All these incredibly large young men were standing in the kitchen just waiting to enjoy the Meisner food. Mrs. and Mr. Meisner loved it. They always had people coming in and out and of course we all couldn´t wait for Mrs. Meisner´s cooking and Mr. Meisner´s joke. They made everyone feel at home. It seems like yesterday, and I hope they knew how much I loved going there and how much I appreciated them. I wish I could turn back the clock and relive all those moments again and again. I can´t imagine how hard this is for the entire Meisner family, but I do know that they will see Mr. Meisner again. I am so thankful for the time I did spend with this wonderful family, and I´ll never forget those huge hugs from Mr. Meisner. I am so very sorry for your loss, and I wish I could give each of you a huge hug. You are all in my thoughts and in my prayers. Love you, Koren

Dear Mrs. Meisner, Greg, Debbie, Cheryl, Paula & Melissa,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I am just heartbroken. Mr. Meisner had such a presence about him. He was such a large, powerful looking man that at first was so intimidating, but the minute I walked in the door he had me laughing so hard that I couldn't even stop. He would always give me a hug prior to leaving and tell me to be careful. The Meisner home was my 2nd home. Anybody and everybody loved going there. When I walked in I knew Mrs. Meisner would be cooking this fabulous dinner and Mr. Meisner would be telling jokes and giving advice. I'll never forget the one time I was there, Greg and 1/2 the Pitt football team was there, and Mr. Meisner was grilling these huge steaks and Mrs. Meisner was cooking so much food and I just sat there in awe. There was never a dull moment at the Meisner household and Mr. and Mrs. Meisner made EVERYONE feel so welcome. I loved every minute I was in their home. I wish I could turn back the clock and experience that excitement again and again and again. The Meisner family is a family that never stops giving, never stops caring and is always there for everyone. My heart is broken for each of you, but I know you will see your husband, father and grandfather again.
I wish I could hug each and everyone of you during such a difficult time. Just remember you are in my heart and my prayers. Love you, Koren

When the great men of this world leave us, it takes a piece of all of us, deeply wounded in his passing, who had the true life advantage of their guidance and example.
In my youth, I had this opportunity because his son was my friend.

Thank you Pete, for the laughter and good cheer.
For the great stories told...
For helping teach me what a hard working good man does, his actions speak louder than any words.
My deepest condolences are with, the only other mother I cherished like my own.
And all her loving children...!

Pete will be in our prayers.
From the entire Coury Family.

In about 1961, friends at St. George Church told us that, if we wanted new vinyl tile on our floor at 635 Kimball, we should hire Ray Soroko. We did. Ray brought along a helper, young Pete Meisner. We were friends ever since.
