Raymond S. Fry

Raymond S. Fry, 92, of Latrobe, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2025, in Independence Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born Sept. 4, 1932, in Latrobe, a son of the late Arnold and Florence (Dovey) Fry. Ray was proud of his service to his country, having served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for the Westmoreland Manor as a food service supervisor for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working puzzles. He and his wife, Pat, were avid bowlers and bowled in a league in every state that they resided in. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Latrobe. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann (Gibson) Fry; and their son, Raymond Jay Fry. He was also the last of his five siblings, Evelyn Fry, Robert Fry, Dolores Fry Stewart, Charles Fry, and Joyce Fry Reffo. Ray is survived by his daughter, Barbara Jean Fry Volpe, and her husband, Paul; his granddaughter, Courtney Volpe McCann (James); his grandson, Aaron Volpe; and several nieces and nephews. Ray's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the third-floor unit at Independence Health Latrobe Hospital for their care during the last week of his life and to Loyalhanna Care Suites for their care and allowing him to live his life the way he wanted. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until noon Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe. Funeral services will be held immediately following visitation at noon in the funeral home chapel, with Deacon Denise Hegemann officiating. Military honors accorded by the Latrobe Derry Veterans Honor Guard will be held immediately following services, also in the funeral home chapel. Private interment will be in Coles Cemetery, Derry.
