Robert Eicher Obituary

Robert B. Eicher Sr., 87, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, in the Greensburg Care Center. He was born July 1, 1916, in Scottdale, a son of the late Lewis and Ella (Truxell) Eicher. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by the Greensburg Salem School District. He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Greensburg, a life member of Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department Hose Co. #6, Pennsylvania State Firemen's Association, Westmoreland County Firemen's Association, the Western Pennsylvania Firemen's Association, B.P.O.E. of Scottdale, was a great hunting and fishing enthusiast, and was a 1935 graduate of Scottdale High School, where he played on the football and baseball teams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald W. Eicher. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty R. (Hoffman) Eicher; a daughter, Beverly E. Bolen and her husband, Luther, of Chillicothe, Ohio; two sons, Robert B. Eicher Jr. and his wife, Sally, of Delmont, and William F. Eicher, of Greensburg; four grandchildren, Robert B. Eicher III and his wife, Kelley, Steven B. Eicher and his wife, Dora Ly, Lynne Dupnock and her husband, Paul, and Douglas Bolen and Suzanne; seven great-grandchildren, William S. Eicher and Shannon, Levi S. Eicher, Daniel S. Eicher, Payton A. Bolen, Taylor F. Bolen, Amanda L. Eicher and Jordan M. Eicher; and a great-great-grandson, William Paul Eicher. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and prior to the service Friday at noon in the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Q. Strandburg officiating. Private interment Union Cemetery, Hempfield Township. Family suggests memorial contributions to the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 924, Greensburg, PA 15601. The Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department will meet at the funeral home Thursday at 7:30 p.m. to conduct a memorial service.
