Shirley Hvizdos Obituary

Shirley A. Hvizdos, 67, of Latrobe, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, in Green Meadows, Latrobe. Born Nov. 28, 1934, in Arnold, she was a daughter of the late Edward A. and Stella Smalara Hvizdos. Prior to retirement, she had been employed as a secretary by Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, St. John's Rosary Altar Christian Mothers Society, JDMH Retirees Association and past member of the board of trustees of Caldwell Memorial Library. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Hvizdos, in 1995. She is survived by a son, David E. Hetz and his wife, Christine, of Somerset; two daughters, Michele Shearer and Deborah Hetz, both of Latrobe; three grandchildren, Zachery, Cory and Brittany; two brothers, Michael Hvizdos and his wife, Janet, of Greensburg and William Hvizdos his wife, Cindy, of Springdale; two sisters, Connie Siemanski and her husband, Ronald, of Nashville, Tenn., and Kathy Reed of Washington; and her special friends, Patricia Yumin, Pauline Wiatrak and Peg Gerhard. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Latrobe, with the Rev. Thomas M. Lukac as celebrant. Interment in Union Cemetery, Arnold. The St. John Rosary Altar Society will recite the rosary Friday at 7:30 p.m.
