Susan Barone

Susan Mahood Barone, of Pittsburgh, passed after a brief illness on May 10, 2024. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, James P. (Rex) and Caroline Mahood; and sister, Carol Jean. Susan was a 1966 graduate of Butler Area High School and earned her teaching degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She taught in Savannah, GA, for one year before relocating to Boston, MA, where she began a career in the insurance business. After transferring to the Pittsburgh area, Susan continued working in the insurance business while attending Duquesne University School of Law, where she received her juris doctor degree. Upon graduation, Susan worked for several years at a large law firm in Pittsburgh, specializing in medical malpractice, before she established her own law practice as a sole practitioner. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband, Robert, with whom she shared many interests. They enjoyed travel, music, and spending winters in their home in Naples, FL. Susan is also survived by her sister, Cindy (Dean) Collins; brother, Jim Mahood; mother and father-in-law, Dr. William and Carolyn Barone; sisters-in-law, Julie (Myles) Harrington and Denise (John) Balkovec; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private.
