Amy Lane Obituary

It is with the saddest of hearts that for the second time in two years we are announcing the passing of a daughter. This time it is our dear Amy. Amy Kathleen Black Lane, 50, of Sutersville, passed away peacefully at her home on Aug. 28, 2024. In our memories of Amy, we recall her love for her pets, from the ones she had as a child to her current dog, Louie. More importantly, she loved children. So, it shouldn't have been a surprise when 11 months, after her marriage, she gave birth to our only grandchild, A Boy! They named him after their grandfather and father, Joseph James. What JOY! Amy was an excellent mother. We often told her that Joseph was meant to be hers. She had amazing 'mother's instincts' which made her aware that something was wrong. After many doctor visits, finally Joseph's cardiologist, during a routine exam, found a tumor on his kidney. He wasn't even a year old. Mimi fell apart. Amy put her back together. Joseph had to be three years old and chemo and cancer free before they could do a transplant. Joseph met that criteria and Mimi gave him a kidney. God bless those doctors. Many surgeries, doctor visits, hospitalizations and Amy's perseverance gave Joseph and Mimi and Pap Pap the happiest of timesuntil God called Joseph home March 15, 2023. Amy wasn't well herself during those years, but Joseph was always the priority. Amy was devastated. After graduating from Norwin High School and secondary studies, it was no surprise that Amy worked at a veterinary hospital and a children's daycare center. She also loved gardening and worked at a garden center for a short time. Amy was very artistic and it showed in all her endeavors. All of those things became a struggle for Amy as she missed her Joseph so. Now she is with him and we miss them all. Amy was preceded in death by her most cherished son, Joseph Lane; beloved sister, Jennifer Black; maternal grandparents, George and Ethel Roberts; paternal grandparents, James and Mary Black; and three uncles and one aunt. She is survived by her loving parents, James and Judy Black; two aunts; and three cousins; Joseph's exceptional nurse; and dear friend, Pamela Baxter; friends and of course; her precious dog, Louie. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024 from 12 to 2 p.m., in the OTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, 724-863-8900. Burial to follow at Irwin Union Cemetery. I did not know Amy but the love of her family is evident in the obituary. What a beautiful tribute to her, her son and sister. They were blessed to have such a loving family. God bless and give you strength.

I do not know you but my heart breaks for you. There's no greater pain then losing a child. Can't imagine the loss of a grandchild too. My deepest sympathy to your family.
