David Warheit Obituary

David J. Warheit, 62, of Freeport, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, peacefully at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. David was born Nov. 12, 1948, in Butler, the son of the late Howard Warheit and Dorothy (Kardel) Warheit who survives him, of Butler. He was the widower of Patricia (Seinera) Warheit, who passed in 2004. He served in the Air Force as a sergeant during the Vietnam War. After his service to his country, he went to work as a maintenance boss at Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Brackenridge for 27 years. Dave was the assistant chapter director of the Gold Wing Touring Association Chapter J. He was an avid motorcycle rider, having ridden more than 50,000 miles in 2010. Dave was a HAM Radio operator, using the call sign KN3ZAN. He also enjoyed drag racing and boating. He is survived by his two sons, Steven (Michelle) Warheit, of Natrona Heights, and Michael Warheit, of Freeport; four grandchildren, Cassandra, Miriand, Austin and Catharine Patricia; and his brother, Kevin (Vivian) Warheit, of Butler. Family and friends are being received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Freeport.
