Norma K. Ryba

1931 - 2025

Norma K. Ryba, 94, of Lower Burrell, went to the Lord on May 16, 2025, in her home with her loving family by her side. She was born Jan. 23, 1931, in Arnold, to the late Joseph C. and Frances (Fritz) Powell and had lived in Lower Burrell area most of her life. She was a loving mother, with a calm, loving spirit, a grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed being a homemaker, growing roses, cooking, and caring for her family. She also was the bookkeeper for their family business, Valley Seat Cover. She was known for her famous Orange Cookies, and there was always competition to see who was going to get the most cookies! She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 868, Lower Burrell, for 34 years. Besides her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Blose; daughter-in-law, Denise Blose; son-in-law, Robert Williams; grandson, Todd Blose; great-grandson, Cody Hutchinson; brothers, William, Bud, Virgil, and Cliff; and sisters, Margaret Strate, Lenora Zarisky, Mary Lou Adams, and Carolyn Emmert. Survivors include her husband, James C. Ryba, of 53 years, with whom she loved to dance; children, Kathy Williams, of Kittanning, James Blose (Laurie) and Diane Shimp, of Lower Burrell, and Charles Blose (Alexis), of West Leechburg; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Johnston, of Sarver; and many loving nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025, at THE RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road, at Alder St., where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, by Chaplin Paul Barton. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Lower Burrell. The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary will conduct services at 6:15 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025, in the funeral home.
