Providence Jones

Providence "Provy" Cicala Jones, 76, of Avonmore, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2007 in Mercy Jeannette Hospital. She was born Oct. 8, 1930, in Avonmore, the daughter of the late Dominick and Sadie Catania Cicala. Before her retirement in 1992, she was employed by Breeze Industries, in Tunnelton, in the hose clamp department. Provy was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Avonmore, and its Altar Rosary Society, and the Fannie Sellins Lodge and VFW Ladies Auxiliary, also in Avonmore. Provy loved reading, and will be remembered for her impeccable style and class. She is survived by two daughters, Paula S. Jones, at home, and her fiance, Jeff Gordon, and Carol Shannon and her husband, Patrick, of Bradford; a grandson, Tynan John Shannon, of Bradford; and a brother, John S. Cicala and his wife, Olga, of Avonmore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John S. "Jack" Jones, in 2005. At Provy's request, there will be no public visitation. Everyone is encouraged to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Avonmore. Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the recitation of the rosary. The Rev. Father Salvatore Lamendola will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery, Avonmore. Arrangements are in the care of the KELLY L. CORRIDONI FUNERAL HOME LTD., 400 Indiana Ave., Avonmore. Family suggests that contributions be made in Provy's name to St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, 503 Cambria Ave., Avonmore, PA 15618, or to the Avonmore Library, 619 Allegheny Ave., Avonmore, PA 15618.
