Mary Ellen Goodwin

September 26, 1940 - April 21, 2025

Olympia, Washington - Mary Ellen Goodwin, 84, passed away peacefully at home in Olympia, WA, on 4/21/2025.

Born 9/26/1940 in Tacoma, Mary lived a bold, creative life marked by intellect, music, and service. She had strong ties to Tacoma, Olympia, Seattle, and deep love for friends in Canada.

A graduate of Lincoln High School, she went on to attend the University of Washington, Washington State University, and University of Puget Sound Law School (now Seattle University). Mary was a teacher, attorney, and retired administrative law judge.

Mary loved music, art, gardening, cooking, and travel. She was known for her wit, courage, and passion for life.

She is survived by her daughters: Julie, Megan, and Annamarie Anderson. She had 5 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Per her wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please support a cause of your choice that promotes education and culture.

Mary will be remembered for her bold spirit, integrity, and love of music. Somewhere just beyond this world she's still playing her banjo and viola with her poodles by her side.
