Paul Hatch
August 20, 1931 - July 17, 2025
Pasco, Washington - Paul Hatch, 93, Civil Engineer, Farmer, and Community Leader.
Paul Hatch, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at age 93. Born August 20, 1931, in Preston, Idaho, to Daniel George and Elsie May Hatch, Paul overcame early tragedy after losing his mother as an infant and grew up in Oxford, Idaho, where he formed lifelong friendships and gained a reputation for his kindness and humor.
A 1949 high school graduate, Paul was a standout athlete and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Canada before joining the U.S. Army's Counter-Intelligence Corps during the Korean War, earning him a reputation among his grandkids as the family's own "007."
After the war, Paul earned a civil engineering degree from Utah State University and began a career at Thiokol Chemical, contributing to the Minuteman rocket program. He later worked for the U.S. Forest Service, building infrastructure across Targhee, Sawtooth, and Yellowstone National Forests.
Paul married his eternal companion, Cynthia "Carol" Roundy, in 1960. Together they raised eight children and created a family legacy grounded in faith, service, and hard work. In 1965, Paul relocated to Pasco, Washington, developing farmland from raw desert into thriving acreage. He later spearheaded the Burbank Irrigation Project, transforming 13,000 acres through innovative engineering and irrigation design.
An entrepreneur at heart, Paul founded Hatco Packing, a local onion growing and packing venture, and also developed a gravel pit operation, building a bridge himself to make it accessible. He operated "The Hatch Patch," a community farm where grandchildren learned values through work and fellowship.
A dedicated church leader, Paul served as Bishop, Stake President, and youth mentor, offering countless hours of support, guidance, and love to all he served. Known for his warmth, integrity, and humility, Paul touched countless lives.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; their eight children; 26 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. His life was one of devotion, to God, family, community, and country.
Paul Hatch leaves a legacy of service, ingenuity, and enduring love. Well done, thou good and faithful servant.
