William McBride Obituary

William J. “Bill” McBride, Sr. PLATTSBURGH - Mr. William J. “Bill” McBride, Sr., 87, of New Hampshire Road, Plattsburgh, NY and formerly of Troy, NY, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility with his loving family by his side. He was born in Troy, NY on March 16, 1930 the son of John L and Mae (Ryan) McBride, Sr. Bill graduated from Sienna College and was general manager of Bumstead Chevrolet in Troy, NY. He purchased the Santa Chevrolet Dealership in 1970 and changed the name to Bill McBride Chevrolet and later obtained the Subaru Franchise where he was president of the company. He served on the Plattsburgh Air Force Base Liason Committee, Key Bank and National Savings Bank Boards, Chairman of the Board at CVPH Medical Center and many others boards. Bill was named Irishman of the Year in 1976. Bill was an avid golfer, enjoyed all sports and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of and Past President of the Plattsburgh Noon Rotary Club and St. Peter’s Church. Bill was predeceased by his parents John and Mae McBride, a son, William “Billy” McBride, Jr., his brother John L. McBride, Jr. and a sister Mary McBride Gamble. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Virginia “Ginny” (Manory) McBride of Plattsburgh, a son Brian McBride and Lezlie Petty of Plattsburgh, a daughter Maureen Enos and her husband Ed of Clifton Park, NY, 5 grandchildren; Katherine Enos MD, Carolyn Enos, Joey Enos, Madison McBride, Bradford McBride, a daughter-in-law Scarlett McBride of Plattsburgh, several nieces and nephews There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY. 12901. (518) 561-3980. A beautiful Uncle and Godfather to me. A wonderful son, brother, husband, father and grandfather, father in law and friend.

May God bless him and keep him in the palms of His hands and surround him with the love of all who had gone before him, especially Bill, Jr.
