Christopher Jobst Obituary

Christopher Eric Jobst born August 21, 1962 in Tucson to Alois and Bernadette Jobst, passed away November 25, 2009 after a courageous struggle with Frontal Temporal Dementia (FTD) along with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Chris was a member of the Tucson, Arizona Boys Chorus in his youth. He was introduced to the automotive industry by his father, who opened the first BMW dealership in Tucson in 1970. During his lifelong career in the technical and sales areas of BMW, he cared deeply for his many customers with whom he maintained close relationships. Chris' other focus in life was his devotion to his family, wife Amy (Volz); son, Derek (15) and daughter, Ellie (11). Everyone that came to know Chris enjoyed his gregarious, light-hearted sense of humor and his love of all things technical, a focus he began to share early on with his son, Derek. Chris was also active at Catalina Foothills Church, where he served as Deacon. The physical limitations imposed upon him from his disease never hampered his desire to persevere and to reach out as best he could to those around him. Determinedly, he recently completed the annual three mile ALS Benefit Walk at Reid Park, along with over 80 supportive team members. To the very end, he wished to be with family and friends. Chris also leaves his sister, Petra (Sender) of New York City; brother, Alois Jr. of Tucson and in-laws, Dr. Robert and Ann Volz. A Memorial Service will be held at Catalina Foothills Church, Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 12:30 p.m., 2150 E. Orange Grove Rd. Donations in memory of Chris can be made to the ALS Foundation @ www.alsa.org and/or Association for Frontal Temporal Dementias @ www.ftd-picks.org.

Hey little sister. There's not a day that goes by that i don't think of Chris. I can't help but feel saddened whenever I remember all the happy fun times spent together. Life is so unfair when they take away from us the best one's first! I hope you and Derek and the sweet Ellie are readjusting to daily life. I'm here whenever you need me. Your Bro'.

Amy - Jack just visited Tucson this weekend and heard of Chris' passing. We were both shocked and our hearts are broken. Even though we haven't seen him in years, we remember his kind ways and fun nature. We will be praying for you and the kids. Chris' legacy is strong in you three.

Dear Amy,
My family became friends with Chris because we purchased many cars from him. We go way back to the days when his family owned the dealership. I am so sad to hear of his untimely death. I knew he was sick, but am shocked at how quickly it all happened. He was truly a special man. He always spoke so lovingly of you and his children and I know that you are all aware of how much he loved you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your children at this difficult and sad time.

I was aware of his illness as some of the old employees told me,still I am shocked. I will end by expressing my deepest sympathy to you and your family,Chris will surely be missed.

To the Jobst family: My name is Dave Paulson and I worked with Chris at BMW from 1999 to 2003. Learning of Chris's parting saddened me. I recall so many times he helped me. Not being a techy guy I had constant problems explaining the Navigation System on BMWs to my clients. Chris, I would call, help me with this. He was always there. Thanks Chris. Rest easy. David

Dear Amy, Derek, and Ellie!

Know that our Lord and Savior has Chris safely in His arms--no longer in pain or suffering.

We can rejoice remembering that He came as a baby over 2000 years ago to take on the suffering of this world, and pave the way for everlasting life for Chris and all the others we mourn.

I will also remember Chris' sparkling eyes, and welcoming smile, whenever I saw him at church.

The Lord has placed so many loving, caring people in your path to help you through your loss. I won't be able to attend the service on Saturday, but I will be there in spirit, and available if you need help at any time in the future.

December 3, 2009

Amy, Derek and Ellie,
My family will miss your Dad so much...the sparkle in his eye when he was excited, his laugh, his gentle way of handling things. I just looked at the pictures of Jack's christening 8 years ago and saw a joy in his eyes that I haven't seen in some time. As tough as it will be to live without him, it's been so hard to watch his disease consume and change him. You cared so lovingly for him and gave him so much in his life. He knew how lucky he was and his adoration of all of you was so visible.
My sympathy, love and prayers,
Dawn
