Denard Loganbill Obituary

Shy of 101 years old, Denard passed away surrounded by family in Tucson, Arizona on July 16, 2025. Denard was born in Lawrence, Kansas in 1924. He grew up in Kansas and Ohio, depending on which college his father was teaching at. He attended Bluffton College in Ohio, and Bethel College in Newton, Kansas, where he met his wife. He worked as a harvest hand in his college Summers and later worked as a refrigeration technician.

After moving to California, he worked for Federated Department Stores. He remodeled stores in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma. He accepted a position at Levy's in Tucson and moved his family here in 1965. Denard was the Construction Manager for the new Levy's stores at both Foothills and El Con Malls.

In 1982 he joined the Loews Hotel Corporation as their Building Engineer, supervising the construction of the new Loews Hotel in Tucson. Once the hotel was completed, he continued there as the Store Engineer and Maintenance Supervisor, until his retirement.

After retirement, he volunteered at Habitat for Humanity for 10 years, working as a carpenter, electrician, and plumber. He helped build about 200 homes.

He built four homes for his family here in Tucson, designing and doing most of the work himself. He enjoyed working in his shop, doing woodworking and metal working. He was an active member of Catalina Methodist Church for 45 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Marguerite, and leaves his one daughter, Myra Wright, two sons, Keith and Kent Loganbill (Jessie Loganbill), two daughters, Jenica Klempel (Dustin Klempel) and Mikaela Wright, and four great granddaughters, Macallister, Mara, Monroe, and Marigold.
