Don Roberts and Nancy were my introduction to Pima College in 1984--they welcomed me as the third person in their crowded office. But that's the way they were: helpful, wise, friendly and fun. I was lucky then and for the 33 years I knew Don.
Don Roberts was one of a kind, a man's man who was good in everything: outdoors man, finances, politics, taxes, kids, real estate, even math, my subject. You could talk with Don about anything and never wanted to stop.
He was an natural "uncle" to everyone. Rest in peace Don with Nancy and love to Robbie and all the Roberts.

P. S. I was in Costa Rica when Don died and missed everything.

It is so hard to realize that my elder friend, my Uncle Don is not with us anymore. I met him in January 1999 during our 6 weeks study at PIMA Community College. Everybody was envy to me seeing how a nice person I was staying with.
We spent lots of time talking and discussing.
Since 1999 every public holiday we mailed letters to each other. The last time was in 25th December. He was so optimistic and full of plans. Before Thanksgiving he wrote me "Over Rodeo Days, the last weekend in February, we will take our annual trip to Disneyland. I still try not to let the grass grow under my feet. Still active and full of life".
That is my Uncle Done. Always in my mind.

I've known Don for as long as I can remember. He and Nancy were good friends of my mother. Everytime I would walk in to a classroom to help him, he would introduce me as his daughter. Don was an amazing man, father, husband, teacher, Scout Master and human being. I feel like I have lost a father. I know he is in heaven, probably kickin' it up, with his wife, Nancy. I love you, Don, to the moon and back. Until we meet again...

For the years I have known "Uncle Don" he was always a man of his word, generous, genuous, and was a guiding light for many. My family and I will miss him like he was our own family member. He was a mentor to my two sons, who joined him in the Boy Scouts. He was also teaching my wife and I some of the life skills in which he was so fluent in. The community suffered a great loss in the passing of this man, and I will always remember him dearly. He has touched the hearts of many. Our condolences to his family. What a great man and a great life he had.

Uncle Don was a great mentor in my life. I was a student aide for him at Pima for several years, keep in touch since then. Your family and the world has lost an amazing person and a wonderful and giving man.
I am so sorry for your loss, and may God bless you and your family now and in the days ahead.

Over the many years that I knew him, Don was a great friend and partner. He was unfailingly generous to everyone and was always willing to help, both financially and with unending moral support. He will always be remembered with love and gratitude by me and my family.

Big "D", as I used to call him, was a pleasure to work with. He was always so appreciative whenever he needed help at work. I'll miss my routine weekly calls of "I'm just checking up on you buddy"! My condolences to his family...he will be missed!
