Gerald Hawley Obituary

Gerry passed away unexpectedly on April 19, 2025 at the age of 81. He was born in Washington state on August 8, 1943 to Ruth and Wilbur Hawley. He graduated in 1966 with a degree in Business and Accounting from WSU, where he met and married his best friend and wife, Phyllis. In 1972, after serving as an Army Captain during the Vietnam Conflict, he graduated from the University of Arizona College of Law specializing in Tax and Estates & Trusts. He and Phyllis were married for 44 wonderful years until her passing in 2009. Gerry was a licensed attorney and CPA for 53 years and was actively practicing with his son, Jeffrey J. Hawley, also an attorney, at Hawley Law Firm PLLC.

He was a devoted father to Jeffrey and Stephanie, and "Dog Dad" to his Chow Chow, Cindy Lu. He will be deeply missed by his children and grandchildren, Megan and Jason. He is also survived by his brother Kenneth, nephew Kevin, aunt Ozzie, and cousins Katie, Phil, Debbi, Robbin, and Steve. Sadly, his older brother, Victor (Ann), passed a week after Gerry.

Gerald Hawley was a kind and generous person. His dedication and commitment to his family, profession, and the community was unwavering. He leaves behind many friends, neighbors, and clients, that will miss his boisterous and gregarious personality. His family is very blessed to have been loved by him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 7th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Philips in the Hills Episcopal Church at 4440 N Campbell Ave, Tucson, AZ. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Humane Society of Tucson.

Betsy and I were shocked to hear about Jerry, Jeff. I just finished my radiation treatment and I would run into Jerry on his walks with Cindy Lou. We would compare notes our experiences. He was a great guy with a wicked sense of humor.
