I was so sorry to learn of Jay´s passing. I worked with Jay at the public library many years ago. He loved working in the children´s area looking at picture books and telling stories about what he read. He was a kind and caring soul. Peace to him and his family.

My sincerest condolences to Jay´s family. I worked in the library where Jay
volunteered and fondly remember him. You could count on seeing Jay coming to work always wearing his Western hat, his boots and eating a jelly doughnut...sometimes there was more jelly on his shirt than on the donut! I hope he enjoyed being with us at the library as much as we enjoyed him. Rest in heavenly peace sweet Jay.

My condolences to Jay's family.
Jay volunteered for me at the Sam Lena South Tucson Library for many years before I retired and I have such wonderful memories of Jay! How he loved jelly donuts and soda, how he was a wealth of trivia (which came in really handy at the library), and how much he loved the Tucson rodeo!
Whenever I think of the rodeo, I think of Jay. He'd come to work dressed like a cowboy, and ask the staff over and over whether or not he looked handsome in his suede, fringed Western jacket, cowboy hat and cowboy boots! And he always did! I have wondered what happened to our sweet Jay, and am sorry to have seen his obituary today. He will always have a special place in my heart.

I believe I knew Jay from the VA hospital where I was a nurse. We used to play scrabble and dispute good-naturedly over rules and whether an entry was really a word. Often he was distracted, and talked to voices instead of to me, but was always willing. It was I who had trouble figuring up scores and one time he just looked at me and said "How did you ever pass algebra?" I still laugh at the memory. He was sweet and funny. I pray that he was able to fulfill his soul´s purpose. God bless him.
