Memories of a wonderful holiday in Tucson at Jeanine and Gary's in 1997. Have been trying to trace the family for many years and only found Jeanine's obituary this evening. (Eighteen years after her passing.) I wish I'd known earlier, I had so much to tell her. We will never forget her laughter, thoughtfulness, kindness, caring, generosity, and her love of plants. I'd originally met her in Tucson Botanical Gardens, when I was on holiday with my youngest daughter Elaine. Jeanine and I became friends, she later asked me to return with my family and to stay with her family. We went line dancing, drank Margueritas in the Tombstone Birdcage, we went into Nogales shopping, she took us swimming to show us her swimming 'help' classes, even took me round to her parents' house to visit her siblings, we would swim in the pool by her house in 43C then drive up Mount Lemmon and eat hot chilli in the snow. Every second with Jeanine was filled with her laughter, happiness, and warmth. She left a lasting impression with every person she met because she was one of a kind, a special person. I'm so sorry to have only just discovered she has died. I pray that in those intervening 18 years that life has been kind to Michael, Gina, Matthew, and Gary.

A year ago today Tucson lost a most outgoing, happy lady, but Heaven has to be enjoying this marvelous person. I only knew her through swimming lessons for eight weeks....and I will never forget her smile, her hugs and her encouragement.

Jeanine referred to me as one of her "credit union angels". Nearly every time I saw her she apologized for coming in because she had "screwed up again". When she said this, I had to laugh as I helped her because it was as if she didn't know that I looked forward to seeing her contageous smile -no matter what the reason for seeing her was. I will miss her vibrant personality and caring heart. I feel blessed for having known her, she was an angel on earth. God bless her and her family.

In December 1982 when we were 20 years old, my husband and I moved to Tucson from MI for his first assignment in the Air Force. First time away from "home" and knowing no one, Jeannine was the first person I met here who befriended us. I met her after inquiring about employment at the old downtown YMCA, and before we knew it, I was working with her and my husband and I were living in the duplex next door to her and Matthew. Jeannine went out of her way to take us "under her wing".
Although we've been out of touch over the past several years, she and her family have not been forgotten. This lady had a bigger heart than anyone I've ever known - truly an angel on earth. There is no doubt she is now in Heaven, happier than we can ever imagine. To Gary, her children, and the DiConcini family, may you find comfort in knowing how many lives she deeply touched and changed over the years, and the peace she now enjoys.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. DeConcini and Family,
I just learned of Jeanine’s passing on to heaven. Jeanine’s passing leaves the world a bit more empty and our hearts a little more empty today. Yet, I have many wonderful recollections growing up beside her from her babysitting us to visiting her at Circle K to spending hot summer days at the pool, which I will always carry with me.
I realize all to well that her struggle and passing isn’t easy for any of you but I do know other family and friends greeted her at the doorway of heaven and that Jeanine is enjoying the rewards that all her struggles and life brought.
You all are in my prayers and may the Lord bring you each the comfort you need each day.

Jeanine was one of the greastest people I have ever meet. Through her inspiration many people were touched and pleased. If it wasn't teaching babies or an arthritis class it was greeting people with that wonderful smile. She was never in a bad mood she always had a beautiful smile, and was always in great spirits. Jeanine I will miss you terribly, and will remember all of the lives you've touched forever. Rest In Peace Jeanine Deconcini

I was heartbroken to read that Jeanine DeConcini died. When Arizona Daily Star featured her two years ago in the City's "swimming for the terrified class," I took a deep breath and called the pool, secretly hoping the class was full. Jeanine personally called me at home to assure me that I could do this. She made me put my fear away. I was over 40 years old and terrified of water. Jeanine changed all of that with her warmth, exuberance and kindness. She was a force of nature, so enthusiastic and quick with a hug, yet she respected our fear and pushed us on. I shall never forget jumping off the diving board as Jeanine treaded water below, smiling and shouting encouragement. Her smile lit up the world. She taught without judgment. She changed my life. Thanks to her commitment, I and countless others fear no more. She was an angel here on earth.
I am so sorry for your loss. She spoke of her family with such love.

I was sorry to hear about the passing of Jeanine. We were neighbors at Langley Gardens. And our daughters were about the same age. We lost touch, but she will surely be missed by all the people who interacted with her daily. Please accept my condolences. Her and my late husband both graduated from the Police Academy.

How saddened I was to read our Tucson paper yesterday to learn of an amazing woman's passing. I only knew Jeanine for four weeks! In 2004 there was a beautiful article in our paper of her teaching swimming for the terrified...so I thought about it for a few weeks and got enough nerve to call the park and recreation....and the blessing for me was that Jeanine happened to answer the phone and was SO, SO encouraging. I told her I was 67 then and she said that was no problem...so I enrolled and I met such a true angel of a lady! Her encouragement and hugs will never be forgotten. Her enthusiasm was amazing. I am only sorry I did not know her longer than four weeks! And she always talked about her family with joy...and I am so very, very sorry for them. Most sincerely, Ann Westphal

A hug from Jeanine during my fledgling days of teaching had the power to squeeze out my tears and evaporate my stress. And the presence of Jeanine in the school had the power to make me feel all the children would be safe.
Jeanine's immense love is a thing worthy of imitation.

My most sincere condolences to all the family members; my thoughts and prayers are with you. A special prayer to you, Lino -- I know how much you love your children and your wife and all that they mean to you. While you shared Jeanine's accomplishments with some of us at the State Bldg. (early 80's), we knew she was a wonderful person -- of course, she was your daughter! Prayers accompany my sincere, heartfelt sorrow for Jeanine’s loss, to you and your loved ones. Tenero Abbracci

Jeanine, dear sweet Jeanine...I am deeply saddened by your passing. You were there day and night to help me through one of the most difficult times in my life and the lives of my family. Your heart was that of the most generous, loving, kind and compassionate people I have ever encountered. I was made a much better person by your friendship and love. I pray you rest in peace in the tender loving arms of Christ Jesus. God bless your family today and every day of their lives. Love you, my friend...forever!

Jeanine was a wonderful person and great role model. I first met her at the YMCA and then saw her at the City swim meets every summer. She was always looking on the bright side when most people were feeling sorry for themselves. Our prayers are with the family and friends.
