Robert Bovard Obituary

BOVARD, Robert "Bob", passed away in Newport Beach, CA on August 6, 2008, following a long battle with cancer. Bob was born on June 25, 1918 in St. Joseph, MO. He recently celebrated his 90th birthday. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Adair and Claire Bovard; his brother Jack Bovard; and his wife Mary Lynch Bovard. Bob and Mary had one daughter, Robin Bovard, and were married for 40 years, prior to her death in 1980. Bob married Floriene Launt in 1987 at which time he moved from Tucson, AZ to Newport Beach. Floriene passed away in 2003; However, Bob remained in California, where he resided at Newport Beach Plaza Assisted Living. Bob spent his career in Tucson and his retirement in Newport Beach. Bob was a Senior Manager for Beneficial Finance and later held the position of Assistant Director in the Business Office for Tucson Medical Center. Bob was very active in the Elks Club both in Arizona and California, until his health affected his participation. He also loved fine dining, dancing, playing cards and was an avid sports fan. Bob's is survived by his daughter; Robin Bovard, of Boulder, CO. and stepson, Jay Launt of Newport Beach. However, he will be missed by his many friends in Arizona and California. Bob never met a stranger. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tucson Medical Center Foundation, 5301 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, AZ 85711, or to the American Cancer Society. He was a member of the Neptune Society, and his ashes will be scattered at sea. A Memorial Service will be held in the Solarium at Newport Beach Plaza, 1455 Superior Ave, in Newport Beach on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 10:00 A.M.

Robin, I have been thinking about you a great deal lately. I am so sorry your father has passed on. He was a good man by all accounts and you loved him very much. I remember when he married the second time. My condolences to you and your other family. Take care of yourself.
