Vicki Hart Obituary

Vicki Hart loved in all directions. She loved our world, she loved our community, and she loved her family and her many, many friends. Vicki founded and directed the Hunger 100 Bicycle Race and raised over $250,000 for the Community Food Bank, where she was an active volunteer and recipient of the Punch Woods Award. She moved with great courage and intention to alleviate the suffering of others, including many years working with Homicide Survivors, Parents of Murdered Children and Pima County Victim Witness. Vicki founded the Samos Neighborhood Association, and she was also the recipient of the American Institute of Public Service Jefferson Award. Vicki served for several years as the Chairwoman of the Citizen's Police Review Board, and she also worked as a Drug and Rehabilitation Counselor for Jewish Family Services. She was, additionally, an investigative reporter for the Tucson Weekly where her reporting relentlessly exposed hard truths, in particular with cases involving child molestation. She was the President of every PTA of every school attended by her sons A.J. Hart and Nathaniel Hart, and she gave each of her sons freely and joyfully all she had to give. Vicki's actions, love and determination will continue to resonate through many future generations. She lived her last years with the same grace, dignity, determination, good humor and goodwill that characterized her entire life.

She was a great light. Her bright and beloved memory lives on in the heart of her husband of 53 years Greg Hart, in the hearts of her son A.J., his wife Alexa Jeffress, and her granddaughter Tallulah Jo, in the hearts of her son Nathaniel and his partner Megan Dumas, in the heart of her mother Jo Margaret Morrison (nee Wilson,) and in the hearts of her brother Craig Morrison and wife Marilyn and their children Melissa and Randy, and in the hearts of hundreds of others whom she touched over the years. Vicki was predeceased by her father John Morrison.

A memorial celebration for Vicki will be held this coming Spring. Donations to the Community Food Bank and/or Doctors Without Borders in Vicki's memory would be appropriate and appreciated.

I am stunned to learn of Vicki´s death. She was a special friend during our high school days and over the years I was always pleased to learn of her impressive accomplishments and contributions to the community-but never surprised. Tucson has lost a treasure.

My angel bride Brenda who passed in December of 2014 told me many times how Vicki helped her over the years concerning her daughter Layla. I am really glad I was able to go to a few Christmas Eve gatherings and meet many diverse people. Thank you Vicki.

People who work so hard to make things better for others should live forever. Vicki was that person. Her loss will be felt for a very long time. She was such a positive force when I served with her on CPARB. She was always focused and level-headed. She will be sorely missed as the decent, caring woman she was.

I am so sorry to see this. I feared it after you sent me a card a while back. Please accept my condolences for the loss of a very special woman and person. I will never forget my angel bride talking of Vicki over our years together. I was honored to have met her at PDQ Records a few years ago and to be accepte into your wonderful Christmas Eve Parites. I can not put words more than I have already. Love you all.

Shocking to read about Vicki Hart's passing. She was so full of energy to work for the non-profits she cared about. She was always concerned about her friends and family - mostly her sons and their offspring. Oh, dear Greg, how sad you must be. I knew the family for a long time.

Greg, Nathanial, and AJ, I´m so sorry for your loss. I always admired and envied Sue and Vicki´s friendship. Vicki was always very sweet and welcoming when I visited and I looked forward to seeing you when we were there. May your wonderful memories and love for one another help you through this tough time.

I met dearest Vicki in the 1970's. Every year we exchanged Christmas cards and she always remembered my birthday up to a few years ago when I knew something was wrong...Gregory shared the sad news of Vicki's condition.
Of all the people I have known in the past 50 plus years, Vicki has always been the epitome of kindness, generosity, courage, patience, love...an angel personified. I feel privileged to have crossed paths so many years ago and no matter how many miles we lived apart, I always felt a connection with Vicki because she cared so sincerely about everyone. So rare. Her love for Gregory was beyond compare and her deep love for her sons and grandchildren brought her so much joy.
She will be missed, but her spirit lives on in everyone's life that she touched, if only for a day.
Love you Vicki, you're always in my heart.

The best advocate and friend anyone could have. Vicki was so reliable and focused when she saw injustice. She always took action. There are no words to adequately express what a wonderful friend she was to me for so many, many years. My love to Greg, AJ, Nathaniel and Jo Margaret.

Vicki was always out there, quick to offer sympathy and aid, and quick to condemn injustice in any form. She helped to raise two incredible sons as the heart of a strong family. Vicki will be missed!
