All that Vi contributed to my life would fill volumes, if I were able to articulate it all. She was another "mom" for so long, supporting, encouraging, and modeling for me the life of a woman strong in faith and daring to try her hand at whatever caught her interest.

Watching a loved one struggle to breathe, finally breathing her last, is so painful. But as people of faith in Jesus Christ, we have the confidence of knowing that our beloved Viola took those last breaths just moments before shedding the prison that her body had become. We know that she is now "at home with the Lord."

May that knowledge give you a measure of comfort as you move forward toward the day that you join her and your wonderful dad around the throne of God.

Born 35 years and two days apart, Viola and I shared Kansas nativity. Thirty years ago she restored several antique dolls for me, with the same loving care a mother would lavish on a child. My life was made better for having known her. She will be remembered.
