Father Jewitt will be deeply missed by our family. He was a very important part of our catholic faith and with our daughters and their sacraments. He always had a kind word and a hug for you. Plus, he knew your name. We love you and will miss you.

Father Bernard was to all of us in the Taylor clan not only a close dear friend but also an extension of our family. We have many wonderful memories filled with treasured times at the Oregon Coast and Black Butte Ranch as he came out every summer to spend time with us on the West Coast. He loved my father Bob Taylor like a brother as did my father him. My father passed away also with AML. He was a constant source of support and encouragement to our family in the best of times and through difficult times. One of the times I cherished was when He wrote me an amazing letter when I was just a little girl and had just lost my dog who had got ran over. I looked to Father Bernard to help me understand about loss and "what does happen to dogs when they die?". Although Father did not have specific answers about exactly what happens he reassured me of God's amazing love and he had said "you never know Duchess (my dog) may be the first one greeting me in heaven because God knows too how much you both loved each other. I always loved that thought, Father's gentle and loving letter helped me with my grief. He too had loved his dog (Groovy) with that same kind of love. It was a tender letter filled with hope and compassion and it meant the world to me.
I spoke with him the Wednesday before he passed, it was so good to hear his voice and I could hear the smile on his face as we talked. We spoke about how my father (Bob) was up in heaven with full understanding about all he had been going through with the Leukemia rallying him from above, I told him too how he was on our hearts and in our prayers from afar. I am grateful I had the chance to tell him I loved him. Father Bernard will always hold a treasured place in my heart and I know he is with my dad now just enjoying each other in God's amazing heaven. I hope he too will be one of the 1st people meeting me when I go to heaven. God bless all of you and your family as you grieve the loss of such a special man. Our prayers are with all of you from afar too. From our family to yours with love and peace. Lori (Taylor) Keller

We have lost a great Priest and friend in the passing of Father Jewitt. He will be missed by many, and he touched so many lives as he walked his path of life. I know our family always considered him a wonderful spiritual leader as well as a great friend. We called and told each of our children, they too were touched by the sad news, but now he will not suffer any more, and he is in Heaven to pray for us, and wonder at times what the heck are they doing for! If it was not for him Walden never would have be Baptized a Catholic when our youngest child was. We were also fortunate that he was able to Baptize one of our grandchildren. We are going to miss you Father Jewitt, and thank you for all your support spiritually and in life generally, but mostly for being a friend. Love all the Gemmills

Father Jewitt was a wonderful friend to my entire family and we hold him in high esteem with much love. He was a very special mentor and role model for me personally. Bernie will be missed by the community he served so well - not just the Diocese of Tulsa - but the City of Tulsa! His outstanding work for education, understanding, acceptance and justice will be hard to replace. We love you!!!
