Looking back at the individuals that had a really positive impact on my life, I have to include Buddy. Buddy was an early influence on my becoming a better pilot. I first met Captain Roberts as a member of Civil Air Patrol, he was a senior member and I was a young cadet. Buddy took me flying in his Meyers 200D and demonstrated what vertigo was and how it affected pilots. Over the past 53 years I´ve used that lesson and taught it to my students. Buddy asked Chris Nicholas and me to accompany him on a flying trip from Tulsa to Gunnison, Co to Grand Canyon to Albuquerque and back to Tulsa in the fall of 1970, shortly after I earned my Private Pilot license. We had a wonderful time, spent a few days in the high Rockies at Taylor Park near Gunnison, flew down the canyon (it was legal back then), and learned about the planning and skills needed for cross-country travel by light aircraft. Buddy was one of the most sharing and interesting men I ever met during my 18 years in CAP; you couldn´t help but become a better person just by being around Buddy. The world is made a better place by fine gentlemen like Buddy Roberts.

Our dear friend, you were a man with an opinion about everything but in the few years we knew you you never said or did anything against anyone and in todays world we think that one thing speaks of your character, I doubt we will ever meet anyone quite like you. You live in our hearts and truly miss an old freind rest in peace.
