Janice Rae Gold, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025, in Sand Springs, OK, following several years of living with dementia. She was 93. Janice was born to Ray and Polly Brown in Yale, OK, on October 27, 1931. A lifelong resident of Sand Springs, she taught for 25 years at Clyde Boyd Junior High School as a ninth-grade English teacher and librarian. She also played the piano for the choir and for soloists for band and choir at Boyd.
Janice was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sand Springs, was a past board member of the Tulsa Arts and Humanities Council, and a past board member of the Sand Springs Cultural and Historical Museum.
Survivors include daughter Gayle Lawrence and husband Kelly Lawrence of Sand Springs; son James Ray Box and husband Hunter Manning of San Francisco; daughter Dana Box and wife Lucy Dolman of Sand Springs; two granddaughters, Natalie Mikles and husband Jason Mikles of Sand Springs and Brooke Farr and husband Brenner Farr of Sand Springs; five great-grandchildren, Annabeth Mikles, Mary Kate Mikles, Bennett Mikles, Vivian Farr, and Ella Farr; sister Jeannie Best of Muskogee, OK; niece Jennifer Best Perez of Texas; and Jackson Ross Best of New York, and their families.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Clint Gold, and her parents Ray and Gladys "Polly" Brown.
Janice has always been described as a lady with grace and intelligence who carried an air of respect.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the First Presbyterian Church, 222 N. Adams Road, in Sand Springs. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall at the First Presbyterian Church.
