Shirley Busky
Aug 1, 1939 - Jul 8, 2025
Shirley Mae Busky was born in Fulton Township, Wisconsin on August 1, 1939 to her parents, Clifford Leroy and Lucille Viola (Durham) Farrey. She left Tulsa, Oklahoma to be with Jesus and her husband on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 just shy of her 86th birthday. She touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed.
Shirley grew up in Wisconsin graduating from Orfordville High School. She went on to trade school in Milwaukee receiving a cosmetology license. She made lifelong friends during this time. While in Milwaukee, she and her lifelong friend witnessed the Milwaukee Braves win the World Series.
During this time, the former Miss Farrey met the handsome Henry Busky. They were married in Orfordville, Wisconsin on Saturday, September 13, 1958. Shirley followed her husband, who had joined the Air Force being assigned to Alaska. Her life became very adventurous. They started their family at Elmendorf Air Force Base. Her sons are proud to declare themselves "Sourdoughs".
She made friends in every town she lived in. She leaves behind friends in Orfordville, Milwaukee, Anchorage, Atlanta, Fond du Lac, Appleton, Broken Arrow, Pryor, Houston, Erie and Pittsburg. Shirley and Henry returned to Broken Arrow to retire. Shirley was widowed in June of 2010. She and Henry were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where they were very actively involved.
Shirley's passion in retirement was volunteering. She served for many years as a key individual for the he Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Many other organizations were blessed to have Shirley as their volunteer. Oaks Indian Mission, Steven Ministry, and Camp Bandage in Broken Arrow will miss her.
She adored visiting friends and family. Shirley loved to travel with family, making several trips with her husband, sons and grandchildren. Every summer she accomplished plans to travel to meet her family. Myrtle Beach was a family favorite. Returning to Alaska was whole family experience cherished by all. Disney World and Universal Studios Florida have special memories with the grandkids. Randall took her to England to her ancestorial village. She always looked forward to her Christmas holidays to Virginia to see Matt's Family. A favorite holiday pastime was baking sugar cookies with the grandchildren. The grandkids always looked forward to decorating those cookies. Friends always requested her cherry cheesecake.
Our family and her friends will cherish her memories.
