Armond Swindle Obituary

SAMANTHA Armond Swindle, age 60, of Samantha, died June 23, 2012, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Montgomery, Bro. Tony Latham, and Bro. Earl Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Elizabeth Swindle; a son, Chris Swindle; father, C.B. Swindle; mother, Vina Lou Duncan; brother, Cecil Ray Swindle; and sister, Angie Mitchell.

Survivors include his daughters, Donna Hickman (Mitchell) and Stephanie Swindle; son, Earl Johnson (Donna); sisters, Rosalee Watkins, Hilda Oswalt, Georgana Winters (Gerald), Sonya Swindle, Jackie Spence (Toby), and Karen Swindle; brother, James (Possum) Swindle (Lisa), grandchildren, Brooke Hatmaker (Ryan), Hunter Johnson, Baylee Fondren, Hannah Strickland, Landon Swindle, Kristina Swindle, and Jessica and Jamie Bynum; a host of cousins, aunts and uncles, and sisters and brothers-in-law; and a multitude of friends.

Daddy was a loving husband, daddy, papa, and brother and friend to everyone who knew him. He loved to hunt and fish with his kids and grandchildren and son-in-law, Mitchell.

Pallbearers will be Norman Porkchop Burrage, Steve Kimbrell, Hunter Johnson, Toby Spence, Donnie "Tater" Oswalt, Stanly Sanford, Jimmy Lunchford, and Dwight Swindle.

Honorary pallbearers are Gene Ray Taylor and Warrior Tractors, DCH MICU nurses, Dr. Thomas McDermott, Dr. Salinas, Dr. Pandey, friends and neighbors of the Samantha, Northside, and Oregonia communities, Leon and Minnie Grace Jones, Carrollwood Free Will Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church, Bob Dunn, and Albert and Amy Lunceford.

He never looks for praises/ He's never one to boast/ He just goes on quietly working/ For those he loves the most/ His dreams are seldom spoken/ His wants are very few/ And most of the time his worries/ Will go unspoken, too/ He's there… a firm foundation/ Through all our storms of life/ A sturdy hand to hold to/ In times of stress and strife/ A true friend we can turn to/ When times are good or bad/ One of our greatest blessings/ The man that we call DAD
