DOTHAN Billy Ray Robertson, age 69, of Dothan, died April 22, 2012, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today, April 24, 2012, at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Smith officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Frances Junkin; his brothers, Sherrill, Lee Ed, J.C., Jr., Raiford Eugene, and Joe Earl Robertson; one niece; and one nephew.

Survivors include his sisters, Carolyn Junkin (Ronnie) of Gordo, Ala. and Helen Pugh (Bernell), Arnell Hallman (Rayford), and Betty Joe Robertson, all of Fayette, Ala.; his brother-in-law, Lewis Junkin of Reform, Ala.; a number of nieces and nephews, including those closest to his heart, John, Angie, Clint, and Maggie Junkin; and of course, his cats, Ivanette and Berneice.

Billy was born December 19, 1942, in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Clint and Dora Hitt Robertson. He graduated from Palmetto High School in 1961 and pursued a career in the medical field. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and he worked for heart surgeon Dr. Ed Planz, whom he respected very much, for the last 27 years in Dothan.

Our thanks go out to all who prayed for Billy, came by, called, and showed their concern for him, especially Jim, who went by each day to feed his cats. May God bless each one.

I haven't seen Billy much since I retired, but if you met him even once you'd probably never forget him. He always brightened my day when I'd see him at the hospital or out and about in Dothan. He never failed to make me laugh about something. He will definitely be missed. My deepest sympathy to his family.
