James Albert Teer Jr.

TUSCALOOSA – James Albert Teer, Jr., age 84, of Tuscaloosa, died May 14, 2016, at home. Services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South with Bro. James Walker officiating. Entombment will follow in Magnolia Mausoleum with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 18, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dora Teer; brother, James Ellis Teer; sister, Mattie B. Richardson; and brother, Hubert Teer.
Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Teer of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; daughter, Reagan T. Buehler of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; son, Russell Scott Teer of Carrollton, Texas; niece, Janet M. Teer of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and grandchildren, Shannon Roulaine, Christopher R. Buehler, Jr., Tara N. Teer, Torey J. Teer, Zachary R. Buehler, Lacey P. Vanlandingham and Casey J. Teer.
James grew up in Gordo, Ala., served in the United States Navy, worked at the V.A. Medical Center and made a career as an engineer for the maintenance department at DCH Regional Medical Center. He was a skilled painter and craftsman had his own small commercial cleaning business and he was a dedicated and enthusiastic Gideon.
James never met a stranger and never turned down a request for help. He loved and cared for his family and had a spirit of encouragement. He was a true man of God.
Pallbearers will be Russell Scott Teer, Christopher R. Buehler, Sr., Christopher B. Buehler, Jr., Torey J. Teer, Zachary R. Buehler and Casey J. Teer.
Honorary pallbearers are DCH Maintenance Department, Jimmy Meggs and The Gideon Association.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be to the Gideons.
