I had the wonderful opportunity to sit behind Jerry at work for about 6 months. His spirit and energy that he poured into everything was obvious. He had a very strong faith and loved talking sports. He was truly a kind soul and he will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

I really hardly knew Gerry, but the connection I had with him was as an opponent in our parish softball games at St. Luke's Church in St. Paul. Gerry spent a number of years as an assistant coach for the Red Team and I met him in this capacity. He hadn't done this for many years, so many members of the softball teams now would not necessarily remember him. But I remember him for his smile and his sportsmanship. I also remember him as someone I would see on Grand Avenue often. He was always there with happiness on his face and a warm friendly greeting. I was saddened to read of his passing at church today and am sorry to have missed his service. On behalf of St. Luke's Church and the members of the all the St. Luke's Softball Teams, we are grateful to have had a small piece of Gerry in our lives. His spirit and joy will be missed.

Jerry was a wonderful and beautiful gift from God. His eyes always twinkled when he greeted you with "Hi Bud". My deepest sympathy to his family. We will all miss him.

I have worked with Jerry for many many years. We go all the way back to the days of First Computer Corporation! He was one of the kindest, gentle persons I have known. When he was a computer operator, he would have to call me at all times of the night if my program I had written had a problem. He was so nice, he would even apologize for waking me up. He would chat awhile untill I was fully awake and help me solve the problem. I will miss Jerry. I often think of the good times was had at company picnics, Chanhassen Theater, Valley Fair, Como Park etc. My sympathy to the family, and all who will miss him.

Jerry will always live on in my memories. God called him home but I will remember those times when we walked into Mr.Steak and there were 10 waitresses waiting on him; the fun we had coaching the 'girls' softball team; his love of University of Minnesota sports; and his hesitation in calling programmers in the middle of the night.
Jerry taught us all one special thing - Live each day to the fullest. Let's make sure we never forget that!!

Jerry and I have known one another since 1969. Back then the company name was First Computer Corporation. I remember the days of broomball, his coaching of girls softball, company picnics at Como Park. The company went through numerous name changes. First Computer Corporation, First Bank, First Bank System, U.S. Bank, and finally The New U.S. Bank. We are now talking about 35 years here. And through all the changes we have experienced together, Jerry was always kind, pleasant, smiling and happy to see you. I never seen Jerry get angry with or have anything bad to say about anybody. I wonder how he did that? Thank you Jerry for being that exceptional person.

Heaven is a little brighter, this world is a little dimmer with Jerry's passing. Jerry was one of the happiest people I've ever met. We'll all miss his "Hey bud!" and big grin.
It's always hard to lose a beloved friend or relative. I hope that Jerry's friends take some comfort, among the inevitable tears, realizing that Jerry now experiences eternal happiness and joy with his Lord.
May the Lord give His Peace to Jerry's many friends and relatives,

I will always remember Jerry's smile and laugh when he saw you. He always would say 'How's it going Champ' or 'How are you doing kido'. No matter what kind of a day you were having just seeing Jerry made it better. He will be missed very much and just having known him is an honor.

I will always remember Jerry as being a great fan of the First Computer Corp (FCC) Women's Softball Team. We enjoyed his 'Asst Coaching' and energy. I remember Jerry having a little disagreement with a Ref once, which got him removed from the field. I always loved to say 'hello' to him and then just wait to hear his giggle/laugh. Jerry's kindness and sweet smile will always be remembered!!!!

Jerry was one of the best friends anyone could of had. He was just like my father. So kind, gentle, upbeat, giving, caring and loving. He put everyone and everything before himself. Words just can't describe what a great guy he was. He would give you the shirt off his back if he knew you needed it. Jerry had a big heart for everyone. His smile, glowing face and kind words boosted everyone. Everyone he met became his friend. He treated us all like we were kings and queens. His cats were his life. They will miss him a lot too. I feel priviledged to have movie pictures of Jerry's 40th anniversary at US Bank and of his retirement party. I will treasure them forever. Jerry was a very hard worker and very devoted to his job. I feel honored to have worked with him. When I picked up Jerry to take him to work, we always had great talks. He always made my day. Friends like Jerry are hard to come by. We will miss him a LOT. I guess God felt he needed Jerry more than us. The world will not be the same without Jerry. He was an inspiration to everyone.
Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends. We will miss him and his smile more than anyone knows, but not forgotten.

As an employee of Billy's On Grand, I first met Gerry in February of 2000. I was "Hey Kiddo" to him and he was a dear friend to me. There are so many things that come to mind when I think of Gerry. His great smile, jolly laugh and most of all the effect he had on people. Gerry loved life and he loved the people in his life even more. I am so blessed to have met, and became close to him throughout the years. He was everything good, and more.
When I visited Gerry last in the hospital I left feeling very sad. I was sad that he soon would no longer be able to touch others hearts the way he touched mine. Although I am very saddened by the loss, Heaven sure did gain a true "Angel" in my eyes. His spirit will live in our hearts forever.
There is a pharse I had heard that reminds me of Ger;
Some people come into our lives and quietly leave.
Others leave footprints on our hearts and we are never the same.
I have lots of footprints from Gerry as I am sure many people do. My deepest sympaty to his family. He will be terribly missed.

What can I say about Jerry that hasn't already been said? Jerry was one of the nicest people I have ever known. He was always so upbeat and happy, and considerate of other people's feelings. At those times when he called you in the middle of the night to tell you about a problem, he would always apologize for waking you. With Jerry, you knew that he truly was sorry.
My condolences to Jerry's family.

I joined FCC in 1967 and it seems Jerry's twinkling eyes were around when I began. Then came his unfortunate accident as he was walking across the bridge. We didn't know if he'd make it ... how silly of us to doubt Jerry's determination! He returned to work with his same smile, graciousness and high ethics ... and that style just kept on year after year after year. Jerry was a model employee ... loyal, calm and devoted. Under stress, I could always seek out Jerry and his positive attitude would make everything seem simple and attainable. At the "old timers gatherings", we would hug, his eyes would twinkle, his smile would fill his face and he'd voice this shy giggle as we greeted each other. Then, he would say something very kind and sincere. That was the Jerry I shall always remember. I am grateful he was on my team ... that he was a special colleague ... that he was a dear friend. I regret I cannot celebrate his life will all of you ... I have a family visitation and service at the same times in northwestern Minnesota. Bless you, Jerry.

Gerry was one of my first co-workers when we met in July of 1972. We quickly became friends, as he did with everyone.
In 1975, my daughter was born. Marie and I were proud that Gerry accepted the responsibilty of God-father. As my family grew, they all came to know and love Gerry.
The only time I saw Gerry get mad at me is when he found out I was moving from St. Paul to North Branch. He insisted that if I was to make myself so inaccessible, the LEAST I could do is move to Taylors Falls.
He was a wonderful man and will be missed by my entire family.

Jerry was one of those special people you meet in life who endears so many to himself. I was privileged to first meet Jerry almost 25 years ago at the odd time of about 2:00 am in the morning, receiving a telephone call from him to troubleshoot a computer problem. His patient, team-oriented, friendly and reassuring style quickly diffused the early morning fog to help resolve the problem and get the computer processing cycle resumed rapidly. Outside the work environment, over the years my wife also came to know Jerry and quickly recognized just how special of a person Jerry Weller was. We can truly say that we loved this man. We will certainly miss him but know he is now safely and eternally home in the most stable environment possible - with his Lord in Heaven.

Anytime that actor George Wendt appeared on the "Cheers" TV show, the whole bar would yell out "NORM !!". When Jerry walked into any Grand Avenue restaurant or bar, the staff would greet him by name in a similar fashion.
Jerry was a great sports fan. He would love to go to MIAC (small college) games as much as professional ones. It was my pleasure to take him to Hamline University football and basketball games. He even drove (with my 8-member group) to Columbus in November 2002 and saw the Gopher-Buckeye football game there. We went to a Saints game in May 2004, but I had no idea then that it would be our last time together in any stadium.
Jerry retired from a 40-year US Bank career in February 2003. I immediately missed his cheerful greetings at work as well as the weekly "project status" meetings that he hosted.
My condolences to his family and friends on this sad occasion. To that "Grand Avenue" district in Heaven, here comes Jerry!

Where do I start, there are so many wonderful memories. We had so many great times together, his years as coach of FCC softball team, our weekly pro football picks and the good natured banter that resulted, the many trips to Vegas. Jerry was
the kindest most careing person I've ever know and I will miss him more than I can say. The world is a much better place because of Jerry haveing passed through it.

I've never met anyone who cared as much about everything as Jer. Family, friends, community, job, he gave his heart to all. He always had a smile and a cheerful word, no matter what the situation. My heart goes out to his family and all his friends, he will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Jerry is one of the kindest people I have known. He has enriched so many lives with his smile and true heart felt love for all those who came in contact with him. He met my children once, maybe twice, when they were little(18 years ago) and never forgot their names and always asked how they were doing. He will truly be missed.

Jerry will always be remembered as someone who loved life, who cared deeply and who never met a stranger. He was the all the good things our parents teach us to be, but most of us forget to be. Jerry's faith in God was a beckoning light to everyone - he truly did let his light shine. Reader's Digest used to do a monthly article about unforgettable people...Jerry would be one of those people. He truly was and is someone who is unforgettable.

I never minded getting a problem resolution call from Jerry, because he was so wonderfully nice in the midst of his efficiency. When I would hear his "Hey, bud" on the other end of the line, I knew that I was in for a pleasant conversation, some sensible plans to fix the problem, and the day would get a little cheerier, due to Jerry.
He will be missed so much. My heartfelt condolences to his family - I am so sorry for your loss! God bless you.

Jerry sparked more smiles than anyone I have ever known, first his own and then the smiles on every person he met. His generosity and enthusiasm brightened many lives. He will be sorely missed. We can only hope that each and every one of us can carry a little of his love forward in his memory. I think that would be his best and truest legacy.

Jer was one of the kindest people I’ve known. He lived with a deep faith and interest in all of God’s creatures. He never had an unkind word for anyone and took a deep interest in the families of all those with whom he came in contact. He treated everyone with respect and never forgot anyone he encountered. His enthusiasm for young people and their development was contagious. His fact lit up as he described the budding Minnesota basketball stars – and Lindsay Whalen was one of his favorites. And for USB employee offspring he always had interest and words of encouragement. He will be missed.
