Michael Hugh Karl

Karl, Michael Hugh November 17, 1932 June 19, 2008 Michael "Mike" Hugh Karl, 75, passed away on June 19th after a courageous battle with cancer. Mike was born November 17, 1932 to Louise (Pesola) and Leonard Karl at Hibbing General Hospital. Mike loved sports and played football at Hibbing Junior College. Mike and Paula Teske met at Junior College, graduated from Northwestern University together, and were married in 1959. They were blessed with two sons, John Dayton and Matthew Leonard. They now have two daughter-in-laws, Kelly O'Donnell (John) and Joni Ost (Matt; and grandchildren, Katie and Michael, children of John and Kelly. Mike retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad at age 60 after what he liked to brag of as 5 decades (interrupted by the Navy and college) of service to the railroad and spent the next 15 years working with concerns in Russia, China and Japan. He counted good friends in all those countries and many came to visit Mike and Paula in the place they lived; in the Fort Worth, TX area as well as Kerrville in the Hill Country of Texas, Portland, Oregon, and in Minnesota on Crosslake. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service for Mike will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at ST. ANNE'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 2035 Charlton Rd, Sunfish Lake, MN 55118.
