R. DANISCH Obituary

Mike Danisch should be remembered as a vibrant, witty and generous intellectual, known for his compassion and logic. He was passionate in his support of equal rights for every living being, becoming an active participant in the Pride Festival as well as a member of, and donor to, numerous charitable causes. He enjoyed teaching young engineers throughout his career as a software design engineer and continued solving math challenges with Project Euler once retired. Mike (R. Michael) Danisch was born Sept. 3, 1949 in White Bear Lake, MN to Patricia and Raymond Danisch. As a young avid fisherman, he roamed far and wide on his bicycle visiting fishing holes in the area. He had three siblings, Carol Haak, Richard and Patrick. In college, he pursued a math degree and graduated with honors and distinction from the UMN. Mike spent his entire career at Control Data Corp and Cray Research, loving every minute of the challenge and beauty of software design. In 1979 he married his soulmate and friend, Susan (Thoren). He was extremely proud of his two daughters Christine and Tamara Danisch, taking great joy in spending time with them fishing, skiing, working on home projects, playing chess, pool and word games together. They meant the world to him. On Saturday, April 24, 2021, Mike Danisch lost his battle against metastatic bladder cancer. He is survived by his wife, Sue, daughters, Chris (Robin McCurdy) and Tam (Jake Lewis), sister Carol (Andy) Haak, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Mike will be greatly missed by his loved ones. The family would be grateful for donations to be sent to The Human Rights Campaign (hrc.com) on his behalf.
