Gary Mecham Obituary

Gary Don Mecham, age 56, of Roosevelt, died February 21, 2013.
He was born Dec. 29, 1956, in Roosevelt, to Blaine A. and Betty Lou Shelton Mecham.
Gary was a kind hearted person who was a hard worker and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was the most athletic of all of Blaine and Betty's children making a pole vault in the backyard, walking on his hands around the entire tennis courts, winning trophies in bronc riding, wrestling, and pommel horse. He was a stunt man, a beautiful ice skater, and had incredible strength. He enjoyed the finer things in life and bought two cars right off the sale room floor. He had a fondness for muscle cars. He was an all around handy man fixing everyone's cars, laying linoleum, plumbing and anything that needed to be done. He was very generous, spoiling his brothers and sisters with great gifts that he would often leave on their doorsteps. He made sure everyone, especially his mother, had everything they needed-he was their Robin Hood. He will be remembered for always being the best man he could be. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Gary is survived by his son, Brandon Todd Ashmore, Salt Lake City; mother, Betty Mecham, Roosevelt; siblings, Darwin A. Mecham, Roosevelt; Jeanetta Mecham, Salt Lake City; Roger Mecham, Sabrina (Phil) Cabibi, Darick Mecham, all of Roosevelt; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Blaine; brothers, Ronny and Lanny; and grandparents.
Funeral services will be held on Thurs., Feb. 28, at 11 a.m. at the Roosevelt East LDS Stake Center, 600 E. 600 North. There will be a viewing on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary and from 10-10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
