Esther Gobin Obituary

WEARE- Esther H. (Sorento) Gobin died peacefully on Oct. 2, 2014, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born May 6, 1925, in Sunapee, daughter of the late Annie (Haskins) and Charles Sorento.

Esther lived in many parts of the country with her late husband, Robert Gobin Sr. during World War II, but settled in Weare in the late 1940s, where she continued to reside until her recent illnesses. They were married nearly 60 years but the extreme love for her husband never ceased.

Besides being the matriarch of her large and amazing family, she had a few other occupations. Her most enjoyable and fulfilling position was with Beeline Fashions, where she rose to the rank of division manager. She was in charge of many stylists while still running fashion parties all over the state until the business closed in the early 80s. She also delivered the Union Leader with the help of her husband and sons in the 50s and 60s. In later life, she worked for the Hale's at Monument Laundromat and her son Roger's store Gobin's Town and Country, both in Goffstown.

Always known as a great listener, Esther was a mother, grandmother and friend to many. Most people called her Grammie, Ma or Mom. She was a great cook and enjoyed sharing her food and recipes. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and playing cards with her family and lifelong friends.

Her greatest pride and joy were her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Esther was predeceased by her husband, Robert Gobin Sr., son, Roger Gobin, daughter-in-law, Linda (Hill) Gobin, older sister, Ethel (Sorento) Getz and younger brother, Charles Sorento.

She was survived by her sons, Robert Gobin Jr. and his wife, Gayle (Fournier) Gobin; Gary Gobin Sr. and his wife, Ruth (Ayers) Gobin; Brian Gobin and his wife, Kathleen (Ludwig) Gobin; grandsons, Robert Gobin III, Gary Gobin Jr; granddaughters, Lisa Roy, Dawn Geissenhainer, Lynn Munroe and Lori Ouellette; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Ashley Silva, Robert IV and Stephen Gobin, Timothy and Taylor Roy, Hana and Wilton Geissenhainer, Gary III and Brooke Gobin and Gunnar Ouellette; many nieces and nephews.

5 years have passed, but there has not been a day I still do not think of you. I miss you, our talks, laughter, and friendship, and your stories of the past. Bella still talks about you. Love you lots. I was so blessed I met you. Sending kisses to heaven today.

Mom, I learned so much from you except your knowledge of your family and friends. All I had to do was stop by and you could update me on anybody and fill in any of the gaps. Your brightness never ceased. As you always told me "I still have my mind". Love you forever, -Brian (tributes to Esther can also be submitted to the Guestbook at frenchandrising.com)
