Myla

March 26, 2024

Captain James McGrevey served on the Manchester Fire Department with my father, Tom Padden, for many years. My Dad always spoke so highly of him, not only as a dedicated firefighter, but also as a good friend. That friendship extended beyond professional firefighting responsibilities to frequent Saturday evening dining excursions when my parents, Tom and Marjorie Padden, had the opportunity to enjoy the company of "Jim and Betty McGrevey" at one of Manchester´s finest restaurants. A post dinner nightcap was often enjoyed at our house. Through these visits, my brothers and I had the good fortune of meeting Mr. and Mrs. McGrevey and storing memories of two kind and special people.
We extend our condolences to all in the McGrevey family and raise our glasses to Captain James McGrevey and a life well lived.

Sincere respects to all loved ones and acquaintances of Captain Jim McGrevey. His professional firefighting career was one well respected by his peers. Always the gentleman, reliable, loyal, a calming influence with "follow his example" style of quietly applied leadership. His fellow firemen always had every confidence that Captain McGrevey was doing the right thing. Great family man that served his country & community.... just the way it ought to be, as so conspicuously demonstrated, by that greatest generation of Americans he belonged to.
Surely, he was the quiet, but valorous role model. That too, just the way it ought to be. As we mourn his passing, Angels rejoice and celebrate his coming home into eternal life. Again.... just the way it ought to be. The Lord Jesus Christ did promise.
