MANCHESTER -- John Adam Root III, 71, died Dec. 11, 2008, at Elliot Hospital after a prolonged illness.
Mr. Root was born on Jan. 23, 1937, in New Britain, Conn., the son of John A. II and Lena Root. After he graduated from high school, he served three years in the Army. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Massachusetts where he worked in the Quincy shipyard, the VA Hospital in Brockton, and was a tree climber for many years.
He often volunteered his time at the Salvation Army. His favorite hobby was taking long rides in his beloved Cadillacs. His passion in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
IN HIS LIFE: Mr. Root is survived by his six children, Kim Orben and her husband, Greg, of Weare, Debora Root of Manchester, Michelle Leivellee and her husband, Michael, of Manchester, Kristen Root-Walters and her husband, Dennis, of Plymouth, Mass., Nicole Root-Nepton and her husband, Tommy, of Canada, and Michael Root of Concord; his ex-wife, Barbara Root; and 16 grandchildren.
