Mr. Daniel A. Newman
Deerfield
Mr. Daniel A. Newman, age 37, of Deerfield, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 27, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital. He was born in Utica on July 28, 1971, a son of the late David and Katherine Guarascio Newman, Sr., and was educated in local schools, having graduated from Utica Senior Academy in 1988. Daniel was once employed by Sunset Carbonic, Regal Furniture and the Oneida County Sheriff's Dept., and most recently at the CNY Psychiatric Center. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church and was also an avid bowler. Daniel's life was his two boys and loved nothing more than watching his children play sports. He was a loving and devoted father and brother and will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Surviving are his two beloved sons, Michael Newman and David Newman; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Victoria Chwazik, Kimberly and David Salle, and Barbette Ward, all of Utica; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Michael DiFondi, and David and Michelle Newman, of Utica; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his dear friends, Bruce Ward, William Wheeler, John Swift, Mike and Don Rosenthal, Darlene Kelly, and Carol Aceto and sons, which was his home away from home, and a special friend and confidant, Debra Fischer. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc., 1122 Culver Ave. Funeral services will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
