SOMERS, NY - We deeply mourn our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, Edna Mary Corby Desidero, who passed away peacefully in Somers, NY, on November 23, 2018, at the age of 97.
Edna passed away on the anniversary of her marriage to the late Amerigo Vincent Desidero, who was her beloved husband for 44 years. Edna was the devoted mother of Stephen and wife, Marsie Nielsen, of Mosheim, TN, Laura Rachel and husband, Frank Fragetta, of Remsen, NY, Janet and husband, Kenneth Buelta, of Peekskill, NY, and youngest daughter, Victoria Desidero and husband, Michael Davies, of Brewster, NY; loving grandmother to Nicole, Sundy, Adam, Corby, Jessica and Stephen; and dear great-grandmother to 15 wonderful children.
Edna was born and raised in Brooklyn, attended school there, and after graduating from Katharine Gibbs School in New York City, went on to work for the FBI. She met and married Al, the love of her life, on November 23, 1946. They raised their family in Valhalla, NY, where she worked for the Valhalla Board of Education for many years. She was a friend to many who admired her kindness, loyalty, humor and goodness. One of her greatest passions was reading books, a joy she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing golf, bridge and other card games, and loved animals of all kinds. She was fiercely loved by those who knew her grace and will be greatly missed by all.
Edna's funeral will be held on Monday at 12:30 p.m. from The Matt Funeral Home and at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Private interment will be in Fairchild Cemetery in Remsen.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger Street at Mohawk St.
