Thomas Zmudosky Obituary

Thomas Paul
Zmudosky, Sr.
ROME
Thomas "Tom" Zmudosky, Sr., age 54, of Rome, passed away peacefully at home on May 22, 2014, with his loving family at his side. Tom was born in Rome on January 24, 1960, to William and Josephine Albanoski Zmudosky. He graduated from Rome Free Academy and, afterwards, attended Austin Peay University, Onondaga Community College and Coastal Carolina University. On September 20, 1985, he married the love of his life, the former Carmel Guiliano, at the Church of St. John the Baptist in Rome. Tom worked as Vice President of Sales for the Carbone Auto Group. From the time Tom could walk, he was active in many sports. He excelled in basketball and baseball, but his love was baseball. He proved to be successful on the RFA JV and Varsity teams, H.P. Smith Post and college ball. After several years of pro baseball with the Oakland A's, Tom took his competitive nature into the automotive business. He returned to Rome where Mr. Sid Stockholm gave him the opportunity in what would turn out to be 25 successful years in the automotive business. Tom took this knowledge with him to the Carbone Auto Group, who trusted him to be their V.P. of Sales. He was extremely honored to be the first non-family member entrusted with this position in their family business. We thank our Carbone family for loving Tom like a son and brother. He was truly devoted to every single employee and dealership. To his loyal Carbone Auto Family, Mr. Don Carbone and family and Mr. Al Carbone and family, Alex, Alen, Ricky Z and Rich and all of their families, he loved you. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Carmel; a daughter, Tessa Marie, who never failed to put a smile on her Dad's face; a son, Tom, Jr., of Ft. Lewis, WA, whom his father admired more than he'll ever know; his mother, Josephine; siblings and their spouses, William and Joanne Zmudosky, Joseph and Suzanne Zmudosky, David Zmudosky, Michael and Eva Zmudosky, Christine and Paul Wehrum, Barbara Kinney, and Cynthia and Ken Johnson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sam and Donna Guiliano, Tom and Bonnie Guliano, Terry Stanwix and best friends, Tony and Terry Abone. The joy of "uncle's" life also included Jason and Karen, Michelle, Brett, Lyndsay, Brittany, Jennifer, AJ, Michaela, Deb, Pam, Aaron, Lisa, Jen, Katy and Laura. He was blessed with so many great-nieces and nephews who loved Uncle Tom dearly, Jacob and Claire, Taylor Anne, Emily, Nicky and Sarah, Santino, Gracie and Lucca Bear, Joey, Julianna, Ryan and Victor; special family, Tracie, and TJ and Timmy Abone. He was predeceased by his father and coach, William "Wink" Zmudosky, and a niece, Courtney. From the Zmudosky and Guiliano family, we would like to thank the staff on 2N. Our very special, heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Linda Schicker, who compassionately met with our family on a moment's notice. Carm would like to lovingly acknowledge the support of friends with compassion beyond measure, prayers unceasing, visits unending and love abounding. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM at the Church of St. John the Baptist, with Father Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday(today) from 4 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thomas P. Zmudosky Sr. Memorial Baseball Scholarship. It is with a sad heart I write to say my deepest sympathy to all of Tommy's family. I will never forget growing up with him and the whole Zmudowsky family. We lived next door and to them and always felt like one of the family.
I remember playing catch with him in the front yards and having snowball fights too!
Please know that we are thinking of him and you and wishing you peace and comfort.

Carmel we've never met but I've known Tom since working with the Carbone Auto Group. As you know, we're losing a great soul here on earth and heaven is gaining one.
Tom I haven't given up yet with my struggles but things point to me joining you in the near future so please keep a room available for me my friend. In the meantime I will pray for the healing of your family during the time of their loss. God's peace to all of you.
