I sure do you miss you, Bro!! Just as we were growing closer, too ...
Austin and I were juuuust starting to get to know each other better. We were in the same Men's Group / Bible Study for our Church. Although a member, he was quietly leading and encouraging us as Men (iron sharpens iron); I never got a chance to tell him that I saw that in him. Because of our blossoming friendship, we started meeting up for lunch on Thursdays at Camarillo's Souplantation. And, because of our shared love for The Christ Jesus, Family, and patriotism, along with our military past and my adoration for the LEO and EMS communities, we grew to see that we were of the mindset; Brothers separated by 20 years in age.
Austin was truly a blessing to me. And, as I came to see more and more of him, I saw that he loved his Family deeply, always speaking of their love and their individual strength, always keeping them a priority in his life, and he lived out the Biblical truths of being a Father, a Husband, a Friend, a Peacekeeper. Truly, Austin was a Gentleman's Gentleman respectful of everyone he came into contact with.
I love you, Bro, and will continue to miss you.

Met him on the job in 1967. He helped train me and taught me a lot while on police patrol in Simi and Santa Susana. Several years later, I worked with him at the East Valley Detective Bureau. Austin was truly a great detective. He was not one to move too fast. Therefore, very thorough in his investigations.
Besides all his on the job specialities, he was a great and loyal friend. Many years later, I found out he had graduated from Verdugo Hills High School in 58 or 59. I, too graduated there in 1963. Pretty cool. Loved that guy. RIP AJ.
